  1. Re: Where should LaTech rebuild baseball stadium

To follow up on the previous post:

Given the information that's public so far it looks like the damage is somewhere around $20 million. The state's self-insured fund will pay a few million. FEMA...
  2. Re: Where should LaTech rebuild baseball stadium

    From the News-Star:

    A few highlights:

-Soccer, softball, and baseball will not play on campus this coming year. The new sports complex in Ruston and Ruston High could be used for practice and...
  3. Re: Where should LaTech rebuild baseball stadium

Keep in mind, they don't know the site yet. They're still trying to have questions answered about the entire project for all sports. I don't know, but I suspect some of those questions include:

  4. Re: Where should LaTech rebuild baseball stadium

Correct. It's a possibility. Just a bigger version. The big draw here is the fact it was designed by HKS. We should strongly consider using them.
  5. Re: Where should LaTech rebuild baseball stadium

Everything is on the table at this point. The plan a month ago may not be the plan a month from now.
  6. Re: Where should LaTech rebuild baseball stadium

As many others have posted on this board and elsewhere over the past few days if baseball were to move away from the Love Shack then softball should be relocated to that sight. You have everything...
  7. Re: Where should LaTech rebuild baseball stadium

I would expect something similar on a larger scale if both sports were moved to the old Neilson-Carruthers site. You can't do that today if those same sports were rebuilt where they are now because...
  8. Re: Where should LaTech rebuild baseball stadium

I agree with everything you are saying. I would add one thing to it, something Friscodawg has been posting for the past week.

If baseball has to be moved I want the athletic department to keep...
  9. Re: Where should LaTech rebuild baseball stadium

Not saying that at all. Again, I posted the pics strictly for reference.
  10. Re: Where should LaTech rebuild baseball stadium

UL-Lafayette kept the metal bleachers down the lines, which are chairbacked. But other than that they completely rebuilt.
  11. Re: Where should LaTech rebuild baseball stadium

Or the state appropriates funds on an emergency basis for new turf baseball and softball fields at Grambling. Simple and it buys us until 2021.
  12. Re: Where should LaTech rebuild baseball stadium

For reference here is centerfield in 2013.

  14. Re: Where should LaTech rebuild baseball stadium

Just for reference, this is what the area behind left field looked like back in 2013. Shifting the field would mean reworking this area.

  15. Re: Where should LaTech rebuild baseball stadium

SD: Keep in mind UNT built that whole complex from scratch. We would just have to build a new grandstand with an office, training room and athletes lounge for the two sports along with separate...
  16. Re: Where should LaTech rebuild baseball stadium

    Well said!
  17. Re: Where should LaTech rebuild baseball stadium

To their credit some of the heavy hitters have stepped to the plate in the past 10 years for at least 3 projects. But you're correct in that if ever Tech needed to come up with a visionary plan and...
  18. Re: Where should LaTech rebuild baseball stadium

Your post suggests the athletic department went to the Foundation and took out a loan as if it were a bank. The reality is the university simply used the Foundation to run the debt through rather...
  19. Re: Where should LaTech rebuild baseball stadium

Really! Tech students pay almost nothing in students fees for athletics compared to most of our competitors.

Even for projects on campus in the last 30 years like the Lambright Center expansion...
  20. Re: Where should LaTech rebuild baseball stadium

For starters the State's Self-Insured Fund will pay $2.3 million. I suspect FEMA will end up covering the rest. If we get dollars to rebuild the stadium way it was built in 1967-68 (not precast or...
