It is very much a leap of faith to assume that life has always been.
I don't personally take a leap of faith -- I don't really see the relevance of asking the question (of where life came from)...
Whether you are right or wrong, I would say it makes no sense to extend the law of conservation of mass directly to life (conservation of life). It is not accepted that something came from nothing,...

Your question was not to describe the origin of life. It was to describe life. To describe life, one compares the distinguishing features of life that make it different from what is not life.
