I would not put anything past the idiots in charge of the BCS. BUT, if they were smart and logical (that's a big "if"), they would do the following:
Modify the BCS system so that the top 6...
This is the first I've heard of this, apologies if this is old news.
LSU's 2008 schedule still lists "TBA" for September 13th. Louisiana Tech's 2008 schedule only has 3 games so far, and has...
Joe Paterno
Lloyd Carr
Can't think of others...
Not the Sugar Bowl next year (I don't think)... the most likely BCS bowl would be the Orange Bowl. The posted schedule looks like it will be very conducive to winning a lot of games, so I think it's...
Here's my take on the general concept of a regular season and a playoff in any type of competitive sport... in theory, each team should have a top goal of winning the national championship. The...
Here's what I want to know... why didn't Tech join the SEC, while Louisiana-Monroe did??

All good points, johnny... I don't know if there's a solution other than for Dooley to be given the chance to win a lot of games, like I think he will do at Tech.
I think the difference is that Tech has played LSU how many times in the last 40 years? Two or three times? Bama and Auburn are in the same conference, and Kentucky and Louisville have long been...
Yep, it was just to go along with the NCAA comment, since it's listed on the NCAA sports website. No offense intended - just an attempt at mild humor.
Bigdog13 said to check with the NCAA, so I did, and that link is a list of "champions (including BCS and non-BCS ones).
That would be the logical way to do it. I could live with a 12-team system that gauranteed that all undefeated teams had a spot, and then ranked/seeded them based on the same BCS rankings. While I...
Define "this", and I'll let you know if I agree with you. If you mean 10+ win seasons every season, then I agree with you... there are going to be off years - their conference is too competitive to...
Yeah, I don't like the current system either... I like a 12-team or 16-team system personally.
LSU seems to have had the best year of them all - I think those teams should look at what LSU was able to do, and not the other way around. Put another way, as a coach what would you prefer?...
How's this?

Thanks for posting that. Hadn't seen it!
Quoted for truth.... a playoff is needed!
(And Georgia lost to a 6-6 team (South Carolina) which LSU beat, and to Tennessee (by 3 touchdowns!), which LSU also beat, and USC lost to 4-8...
I know what jumped out at me watching the game... the quarterback option worked just about every single time - seems like at least 6 yards were gained every time Crowton called it. (Not to be...
Dude, you are a troll - do you feel big and strong when you come to this forum and post your crap? The mods here are more lenient than I would be...
Actually, that angle is deceptive - those LSU fans are hamming it up for the TV cameras:

LTUIronDawg, right now there's a 2-team championship, with 31 other bowls. Before the BCS was created there were about 25 bowls. Expanding to 4, 8, or 16 teams for a playoff from 2 would not, under...
It's just a guess, but I think that the "only 2 teams maximum per conference" rule would be kept in place, so an 8-team playoff could easily wind up including one or more teams ranked worse than #8.
I think they did, as did LSU, Michigan, and one other team that I can't think of.
Unfortunately for UGA and USC, the season starts 3 months before December. :)
Seriously - USC has no good claim to being in the top 2, because when you lose at home to 40-point underdog Stanford...
