Re: Back to the important stuff....

I saw the court threw out the USWNT lawsuit on pay.
  2. Re: Mulkey to Join Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame

I was trying to remember the timing of something. Did Kim get hired as an assistant before Hogg left Tech? Or did she step into the assistant spot left when Leon and Gary each kind of moved up?

Re: What are you reading currently?

Koontz can write some very disturbing stuff. He taps into human psychology for fear better than most writers. He's a bit uneven but when he hits the mark it can be rather intense.

Re: What are you reading currently?

I have started the book series that "The Expanse" is based on. About 2/3 of the way through the second book. It's pretty good. Like the characters. Not sure I'm going to love where the story is...

Re: How is Covid-19 affecting your work?

I went to the office most days this week, but I moved into a home office setup this evening. For the next few weeks (at a minimum), I'll be running online classes. Our admin is being stubborn about...

    Re: Naturally Competitive!?

I'm not sure I'd buy that all humans are naturally competitive. I tend to be pretty high on the competitive scale, but I have friends who simply can play games for quite a while and never care...

Re: Miracle on Ice: 40 years ago today

I remember calling the local radio station during the game to find out the score since it wasn't being televised live. We must have called 4-5 times total once we heard it was close. Had a brief...

    Re: Who Dat!

We seem to be looking at the end of an era. Brady and Brees are clearly dropping off. They might get one more good year, but it will be more like Manning's last year in Denver than anything they've...
  9. Article about women's basketball dynasties

This is about a year old so apologies if already posted.

It gives some analysis of the fall or rise of different dynasties (though isn't really concerned about why so much as when). Mentions...

    Re: State of Louisiana Football

Yea, Centenary isn't very traditional Methodist. It's moved progressive for a long time, really. Some of the Wesleyan schools around the midwest and east coast still have a strong evangelical lean...

Re: Peanut Buckets Coming to DAWGTOWN

Sadly, I remember when Johnny's was excellent pizza. Never been sure what changed -- ownership, management, cost was too high to make the pizzas they were making -- but they really dropped off a...

Re: DC Bob Diaco to Purdue

Interesting to me that people keep coming after our assistants but no one seems to want to hire Skip away.

    Re: Who Dat!

Jerry is an idiot, but even he's not dumb enough to pay what he'd have to give the Saints to go after Peyton (I'd bet they'd ask for more than a first round pick). Not to mention that I don't think...

    Re: Who Dat!

Certainly it was a lot more difficult during Marino's day than now. Comparing stats between the eras is pretty much a waste of time. Marino's stats were staggering at the time--partially because the...

    Possibly very interesting stat

Someone posted a meme that turned out to be not quite right, but made me look a bit. My review of this was a bit quick and dirty but it appears to be right.

In bowl games where a power conference...

Re: What are you reading currently?

On the history line, check out Agent ZigZag by Ben McIntyre. It's about one of Britain's more interesting double agents during WW2. The guy was a small-time crook and slightly cad-ish character who...

Re: What are you reading currently?

I'm about to finish the Memory Man book. Have found it rather disappointing. I liked Last Mile (sequel I guess?) but I haven't been as positive about MM. Frankly, I think I like the cleaned up...

    Re: The Kentucky Derby

The Preakness has taken a beating in this. A rematch of Max Security and Country House would have been a compelling story line. Even just Country House would have at least left the "will there be a...

  24. Re: Selection Committee Changes: It's about time

Here's how you could fix the tournament:

Every team that has a winning record overall and a winning record in conference makes the tourney.

Only the Top 16 teams are seeded. And with some kind...
  25. Re: Selection Committee Changes: It's about time

If you compare how good many of the small conferences were in the mid-80s to how few of them are any good today, you can see that the way the NCAA has used the RPI has had exactly the effect they...
