The LSU and Virginia Tech losses combined were the last straw. There was extreme pressure by the Pac 10 on the Fiesta Bowl to take Oregon, and those losses took that option away much to the Fiesta...
Not surprising...late losses kill you and late wins--even big ones--can't undo an extra week's worth of politicking. The Boise loss was one Tech could not afford.
