    Re: Tulsa

How the heck has Tulane played 10 games? Are we just that unlucky? It's not like they are playing teams from dramatically different places from us.

Re: Peanut Buckets Coming to DAWGTOWN

Chuy's strategy outside of Texas has been big cities. I'd be really surprised to see them in Ruston (I don't even know of a Texas city Ruston's size that has one)

    Re: Joe Morgan

Was talking to a friend of mine about listening to the Astros on the radio growing up. Didn't really care about them, but they were on KWKH most nights during the summer. I'd have the radio on and...

    Re: Joe Morgan

I also grew up as an O's fan. Brooks is pretty much my all time hero. Never did get around to making a card show or something where he was. Would have liked to have met him. (I know he's still alive,...

Re: What are you listening to Today?

Anybody listen to Stairway to Heaven in honor of LZ finally winning their lawsuit ?

The only other one I've read by him was American Gods -- which I think might be the better of the two.

Re: What are you reading currently?

I decided to read Good Omens. Somewhat interesting story, but rather disappointing overall. For one thing, it feels like the authors read Douglas Adams one too many times. The style and feel is like...

    Re: 9/19 Tech @ USM (6:30 PM) - Game

Re: What are you listening to Today?

Recently purchased Paul Simon's Graceland. I think it's the third time I've bought it (Cassette, CD--which I lost somehow, now mp3). I was a bit surprised at how fresh it still sounds. Still a near...

    Re: 9/12 Tech @ Baylor (11 AM) - Game

Since I got my grad degree at Baylor, I follow both teams. I will be wearing blue on Saturday, of course. I can't say that I like our chances. I've heard the o-line (BU's achilles heal last year) is...

    Re: LaTech vs ULM

It's also actually the coach's poll, not the AP poll. So an SID or two gave ULL a vote.

Re: Comments That Don't Warrant A Thread

Something I've noticed since we've been walking the dog a lot more post Covid-outbreak. Very few people walk on the correct side of the road. It surprises me a bit. Especially as it gets dark, there...

Re: Comments That Don't Warrant A Thread

There is much truth in your statement. The most recent change that starts showing "you might be interested" type stuff that's mostly advertising as soon as you are "caught up" is the most extreme...

    Re: Two Thumbs Up

A series my daughter and I have been watching -- The Umbrella Academy. About a family of dysfunctional superheroes trying to prevent the apocalypse. Generally clever. Absolutely brilliant use of...

Re: Will Tech play Baylor as scheduled

Incarnate Word has announced that they will not play this fall. So that's not an option for BU. The question is whether BU is willing to talk to Tech about 9/19. They appear to really want to play...

Re: What are you reading currently?

I've never been able to make myself try Wheel of Time. I don't like stories where the author clearly doesn't have a plan of how to end it. And that's always been my impression of Jordan, and to a...

Re: 2020 Season - Covid Edition

The fan vote is pretty much unanimous in favor of Tech. Scheduling IC has always been an embarrassment. Hopefully the AD will see it that way too. Although, in truth, I don't like having my two alma...

Re: What are you reading currently?

Just thought about a series to recommend. Dennis Taylor is the author. The first book is We Are Legion (We Are Bob). Semi-comedy SF. Tells a cool story. Was a trilogy. Just noticed there's now a...

Re: What are you reading currently?

You know Gardens is book 1 of 10 right? It's a good series. The books tend to skip around a bit though time and 1-2 aren't as good as the others, but it's a fun adventure story for the most part.

    Re: Year-Round School

In a lot of the systems I've seen, it's the same amount of "work days". A lot depends on what's expected during the 2 week vacations. Generally, summers aren't a great vacation for most teachers....

Re: 2020 Season - Covid Edition

If I were a betting man, I'd bet on the B12 going the same route in the next few days. There's not much percentage in being the only P5 conference playing OOC.

I really like Ellis Founding Brothers is one of my favorite books about the period. I'd be interested to hear your take on his work on Jefferson.

Re: What are you reading currently?

I just finished book seven of the Expanse. I had my doubts about this one as it started, but it got better as it went. Supposedly, there are two more (only one is finished). Thankfully, they aren't...
