Re: JC Love Field to Remain in Same Location

A soccer/track facility has been discussed on this board and elsewhere.

As for the idea of building softball at the NW corner of the intersection (where the current track is located), Tommy said...

Re: JC Love Field to Remain in Same Location

I have faith in those involved this time around. But I don't blame you for being concerned. The missed opportunities regarding facilities over the past 30 years are too numerous to mention.

Re: JC Love Field to Remain in Same Location

I agree with you. Most of the current parking behind the third base dugout is going to go. And the field will be "swiveled".

But I also think we'll have a stadium with 3,000 to 3,500 seats....

    Re: 2020-25 C-USA Bowls

So Roy Lang was correct a month ago. The Pac 12 tie in is not a done deal. If they were to lose both P5 tie ins and their title sponsor after this year's game, I'm wondering what happens to the...

She was ahead of her time. She'd fit right in as young teacher in Austin today!

Re: UConn Leaving AAC for Big East

There is no interest in this within CUSA. The subject keeps coming up because fans of Sun Belt schools keep bringing it up.
  10. Re: Where should LaTech rebuild baseball stadium

To follow up on the previous post:

Given the information that's public so far it looks like the damage is somewhere around $20 million. The state's self-insured fund will pay a few million. FEMA...
  11. Re: Where should LaTech rebuild baseball stadium

    From the News-Star:

    A few highlights:

-Soccer, softball, and baseball will not play on campus this coming year. The new sports complex in Ruston and Ruston High could be used for practice and...
  12. Sticky: Re: Comprehensive Conference Realignment Thread

This is how fake news happens. Or it's idiocy. NBC's College Football Talk's headline said "Army and BYU Top candidates to Replace UConn." But the story they cited from Brett McMurphy said "Army...
  13. Sticky: Re: Comprehensive Conference Realignment Thread

In the past 20 years the NCAA has almost made it impossible to form a new conference.
  14. Sticky: Re: Comprehensive Conference Realignment Thread

You don't have UAB on your list. They might just be the favorite at this point if CUSA goes for an all-sports member. If it's football only it really comes down to who would they want that can move...
  15. Sticky: Re: Comprehensive Conference Realignment Thread

Army would be the logical first choice. But would Army give up what seems to be a winning formula right now in exchange for the cash.
  16. Sticky: Re: Comprehensive Conference Realignment Thread

One thing worth pointing out. The AAC plans to stand pat for basketball and all other sports with the exception of football. They may not be able to stand pat in football.

    If they look for a...
  17. Sticky: Re: Comprehensive Conference Realignment Thread

As has been pointed out, where would they go?

Also, you're correct about Memphis but wrong about Tulane, Tulsa, and SMU. We would not have gotten into CUSA in 2012 without Tulane's support. ...

    Re: Learfield contract?

Keep in mind, it's bonus money that's paid if Learfield exceeds its targets for sales made by their employees, not Tech's.

UAB's deal also provides for bonuses if certain revenue targets are exceeded. UL-Lafayette's 2018 deal was for $1.4 million per year plus possible bonus revenue if revenue targets were exceeded. ...
  21. Re: Where should LaTech rebuild baseball stadium

Keep in mind, they don't know the site yet. They're still trying to have questions answered about the entire project for all sports. I don't know, but I suspect some of those questions include:

I thought the induction ceremony last night was incredible. The entire event, including red carpet interviews, was broadcast on CST. 800 in attendance.

    Re: 2020-25 C-USA Bowls

Roy Lang was on Fox's show on Tuesday afternoon. He said, as of then, the possible Pac 12 tie-in was still very much up in the air. Only Brett McMurphy was reporting it. He also said the Indy Bowl...
