As a 1971-1975 guy, I always thought that period was the best, but the 84-88 period has a good argument to make. Ah, the good ole times.

That's a helluva argument to discuss, but I sure couldn't dissagree with you. During the mid to late 80s we were untouchable!

I think we have yet to see Tech's finest days. They're coming. Just my opinion.

I have to agree with this time period as TECH was at the top of just about everything. When I say top, I'm talking national championship level sports!

    Football -arguably the best

MBB - not so much - "small division" some of those years, Major wasn't achieved till 73-74

WBB - not in the equation

Baseball - 2 NCAA's and 2 SLC championships (1974 was arguably the greatest year in Tech baseball, 1 win from Omaha)

MBB was the small college or small division, but I can remember being ranked #3 (I think) in '72.

I'm pretty sure we were only one win away from Omaha a couple of other times in the late 70s or early 80s.

I remember a three game series with Texas played at the old Texas Rangers ballpark. Tech won the first game and lost the next two.

Re: Did the 1988 graduates see the best four consecutive years of Tech athletics?

I was at Tech during this time and I would have to say that basketball, Dawgs and Lady Techsters combined, was at it's best. Football was really good as was baseball. Whenever I think back to that time period and I was a student at that time, it's the Lady Techster's record breaking seasons, the National Championship and the Karl Malone era. (Dang it Waymon Tisdale, rest his soul). I still have some bad dreams about that basketball teetering on the rim. La. Tech basketball (Men and women's) was at it's peak from about 84-89. Everything else was second. Best four or five years for basketball, no doubt, not sure about the rest.
