We have had comparisons on where we stack up in other sports in CUSA, just wondering how we are going to do in track & field? Is it much of a T&F conference?

We should get a good idea since we are sending 17 to the east regional meet this weekend. If CUSA teams send any, they should be in that regional.
UTEP is a historically strong program...

Surely it won't be as tough in the distance/CC stuff as the high-altitude WAC.
But I guess we'll have more competition in the sprints (which we owned in the WAC).
I need to correct myself. I had said that we had 17 qualify for regionals, it was actually 17 qualifying marks. some are multiple for one athlete. Still good though.
try these sites: http://www.directathletics.com/lists...B_OEM_ID=10100 and www.flashresults.com/flashtexas/cusa.htm
copy and paste. I'm autistic at links. these give top 20 times/distances etc for each conference...needless to say, cusa's site is more informative and neater and takes up less space than the wac's. Even gives wind readings (anything over 2.0 meters/sec is wind aided)
the links work but it's not my fault...just click them.
Track & Field is difficult to gauge because it all depends on individual match-ups.
There are national rankings and regional rankings based on hypothetical points, and the top programs gobble up most of the points. Only a few athletes are counted while the vast majority of the team isn't even considered. Some teams are ranked higher nationally than they are regionally. One team may be ranked higher than another regionally but not nationally. As a result, those rankings don't really correlate to how the T&F teams would finish in a C-USA championship.
Boise State leaving the WAC killed our track programs. Our biggest problem is depth, and the WAC has so few teams. All of Boise's points were split between the other teams. The Lady Techsters are ranked much higher than all the WAC programs, but we finished in the middle of the pack in the WAC because of how the teams are structured.

look at results for underclassmen and you can estimate what everybody will have next year without adding in freshmen...these results are given weekly and show who is doing what in the conference...I checked the sunbelt before working their meet and the event leaders at the end of the reg. season pretty much stayed that way in the events I worked (pentathlon, discus, shot, javelin).
I'm told newsbot ignores T&Field.

I went drinking with newsbot, he's hungover today.
All I know is that Chelsea Hayes is a stud.
Go Techsters!
Several years ago our relay team ran at the Penn Relays and did very well, beating several other college teams, and national teams from around the world. We finished 2nd or 3rd in the finals, can't remember which. But, it was a strong showing.
