Interesting read. I like that Tech is still being mentioned in all this. Thanks for the article.
Thanks for share!
I agree with the writer, no more 6-6 bowl teams allowed.
I agree, no 6-6 bowl teams, at least until all 7-5 FBS teams have received a bowl berth.
There is some talk of Memphis and Air Force also joining the Big East eventually.
Here is the SportsbyBrooks article referenced in the Jan. 29th piece:

I've heard Air Force is coming around to the idea. They have, I am pretty sure, an open invitation for the 12th slot until someone else gets the nod (which, since Navy won't join until 2015, may not be any time soon).
I haven't heard Memphis really mentioned anywhere. They'd kill any BCS numbers, though obviously if AQ status is done away with, that would become a possibility. That might be why they are starting to get mentioned, if they are.
If Air Force (FBO), Memphis, and Temple came along to make 14 (I have heard 14 is a possibility), the league could conceivably tell the basketball schools to take a hike and maintain a really solid basketball profile.
University of Houston '01. Any references to "we" or "us" likely refer to UH. Cheers!
Looks like Memphis to Big East is almost a done deal.

That leaves the Alliance with 8 East teams and 8 West teams (16 total). I wonder if they would each add 1 to get to 18, stop at 16, or just call it off now.
Actually if UTEP moves West, it is now 9 West and 7 East. CUSA would probably need to add 2 teams.
UTEP makes too much sense in the West.... if you look at a map they are over there with all those teams and not really close to any CUSA teams.
I bet Air Force announces they are leaving pretty soon too.
It may end up looking like this:
East:
ECU
Marshall
UAB
Southern Miss
Tulane
Louisiana Tech
Tulsa
Rice
UT-San Antonio
West
UTEP
Fresno St
Utah St
Nevada
UNLV
Hawaii
Colorado St
New Mexico
Wyoming
