    Re: Dangerous Global Cooling III

Another ice age is a million times more likely than any dangerous global warming. And, you can't even measure it against "man-made global warming" because that is an impossibility. The Earth is still "recovering" from the mini-ice age of the 17th century, the one between 1645-1715. The planet has been in a gradual warming trend since that time.

Too many people are science-deprived. They have NO clue, I mean none, when it comes to true science. And the great, unwashed masses!? OMG! completely ignorant and PROUD of it. They wear their ignorance on their sleeves as a badge of honor. They don't care to know, either. So, when a politician with an agenda, like an algore, comes along spouting BS they go, well, okay, hmmm... because it is easier to accept some simpleton explanation, and even simpler for them to do some little thing to "fix" a problem, that doesn't exist. For most, they might vote for an algore type so they can convince themselves, well, whew! that dude will fix the problem and I can focus on the Kadashians and other important stuff.

And that is why the democraps have labored so hard, for so long, to get control of public education so they can dumb down Americans. Today's modern libtards, those who gleefully support obummer, Killary, et al are as dumb as chit. Completely ignorant and happy about it. It's the Matrix.

Arctic sea ice today is about the same thickness as it was 75 years ago.

REPORT ON ARCTIC SEA ICE UNLEASHES SHOCK WAVES

'All of the official fake news agencies have been claiming' it's getting thinner

    Published: 1 day ago
A posting at Real Climate Science has delivered a body blow to the global-warming agenda – now called “climate change” since the globe doesn’t appear to be warming anymore. It shows the Arctic sea ice today is about the same thickness as it was 75 years ago.
That’s despite the massive spread of SUVs, the use of coal-fired power plants to generate heat for homes and gasoline-powered lawn mowers and leaf blowers.
The posting Tuesday from Steven Goddard, blogs under the pseudonym Tony Heller, featured the image of a 1940 Townsville Daily Bulletin report that “ice measurements were on an average only 6 ½ feet,” according to a just-returned expedition of Soviet explorers.
The blogger noted that in 1940, Arctic sea ice was two meters thick.
Then, alongside a posting of a New York Times image stating the ice was “only about seven feet thick” in 1958, he wrote it was “about two meters thick” then.
And he posted an image from the Danish Meteorological Institute, dated Monday, that shows much of the Arctic sea ice cover was some two meters thick or more.
    image: http://www.wnd.com/files/2017/01/CIC...0170102TWO.png
“All of the official fake news agencies and fake government agencies have been claiming that Arctic sea ice is getting thinner,” he said, citing online headlines from NOAA that “Arctic sea ice getting thinner” and the same from Scientific American.
And he pointed that that while a Bush administration official recently said “all the thick multi-year ice is gone,” in reality, a University of Colorado graphic reveals much of that ice is estimated at two to four years old.
“As is almost always the case with government officials and journalists, they were lying. Nearly half of the Arctic is covered with multi-year ice,” he said.
WND reported in September that President Obama’s executive order to federal agencies to integrate into their policies and programs “behavioral-science insights” about how people make decisions and act on them has had little effect on how Americans think about “climate change,” the government-approved theory that mankind is causing irreparable damage to the planet.
The Social and Behavioral Sciences Team in the executive office of the president, part of the National and Science Technology Council, said in its annual report that part of its work is to respond to climate change.

    Re: Dangerous Global Cooling III

First, azzholes like algore do NOT want to "fix" global warming. Any more than the poverty pimps like Al Sharpton want to "fix" racism. If they did....they'd be out of a job.

Secondly, the real tragedy of azzholes like algore is it deflects attention/resources away from real environmental issues.

Man-made pollution is real. Yes, humans can contaminate a river, can cause air quality problems in isolated places (SMOG in Los Angeles, Denver, and Dallas for instance). But, alter the whole planet's long term surface environment? Nah! not possible. Even if we tried...no I mean REALLY tried! all we would accomplish is making life lousy for ourselves. If we managed to kill ourselves off, then the planet would soon recover and go happily on as if humans had never existed. But, I don't think we could even manage to kill off the whole human race. There would be segments of the population who would survive, and after the idiots who tried to destroy the planet were either dead, or now deprived of the means, were stopped, the planet would heal itself.

What arrogance some have! If mega-volcanoes can't "destroy" the planet nothing man can do even comes close.

Back to the real point. There are REAL problems that need addressing. One of the most pressing issues is clean drinking water. This is a real problem. Examples like Flint, Michigan and St. Joseph, Louisiana are mere tips of this iceberg. In each case, a simple, and relatively inexpensive solution is available....measured in $millions (not $billions and certainly not $trillions). But, the powers-that-be, the corporations, their lobbyists, and the politicians in their hip pockets don't stand to make much, or any, money on that route. So...

World wide there are about 700 million people who do not have access to a dependable, quality source of water. There are tens of millions more whose health is affected by below-par quality water, and who live on the edge, in danger of losing even that. And, as mentioned, there are literally millions of Americans whose health is at risk due to lousy water.

This is a REAL problem. Yet.....crickets.

Hawaii's Kilauea volcano has been erupting for decades now. Maybe 40+ years. It's been little more active recently. It's a shield volcano...land builders. They usually have slow lava flows. The Hawaii Islands exist because of these shield volcanos. They spew greenhouse gasses into the atmosphere but do so in smaller quantities and often such ejections are light, sporadic, and isolated. Still, I guarantee over the past 40 years Kilauea has put more crud up there than the combined human activity in the US.

Cinder cones are a second type of volcano. There is one in NE New Mexico, a state park now, just before you cross into Colorado. They are usually short-lived, violent, but usually spew ash and small particles of lava rock, "cinders."

Then there are Composite Volcanos. These are the biggies, the ones most people think of when they think of a volcano. They do both the lava flows and the violent eruption of cinders. They come in different sizes and magnitude. A "mega-volcano" is the biggest of the lot. Examples of those are Mount Mazama (Crater Lake, Oregon) and of course Krakatoa, whose massive eruption in 1883 is the largest such known. These volcanos, these beasts, spew more greenhouse gasses into the atmosphere in 24 hours than the combined human activity of factories, ICEs, cows farting, LSU fans farting (whoa!) over a 30-year period in the US.

Mount Vesuvius, which wiped out Pompeii, and several other cities, like Herculaneum, is a large composite volcano, but most volcanologists do not classify it as a true "mega-volcano." It just happened to be sitting above several cities. Mt. St. Helens (Oregon) is not a "mega-volcano" either. It's 1980 eruption did a lot of damage, locally, and some folks foolish enough not to evacuate, were killed. Still, it's explosive eruption spewed more crud into the atmosphere than several years of human activity does. Most of us were around in 1980....in fact, I had just been on the side of Mt. St. Helens 6 months prior to the eruption. We were inventorying IP's timber located on several thousand acres there. Anyway, did you suffer any ill-effects of that eruption? Did the globe perish? If not for the media coverage, would you even have known about the eruption?

    Re: Dangerous Global Cooling III

Here's a small, but interesting tidbit. Some of you know R-22 refrigerant is being phased out in favor of R-410. The reason given is "environmental concerns." What's that mean? So, I did a little digging...just a little...and found that it's only about Ozone depletion. I'm not convinced even about that, but let's just take the EPA at its word, what they maintain are the facts.

R-22 is rated at low to medium risk of causing Ozone layer depletion. And, R-410 is rated as nil. No risk. Zero risk. Okay, yippee!

But, on another EPA scale, R-22 scores 1800 (about) and R-410 2200 (about) on the "causing global warming" risk. R-410 represents a higher risk for causing GW than the evil R-22. So, this is all about reducing Ozone depletion....and GW be damned!

Funny thing, there are other refrigerants that out-perform both, on BOTH scales, such as R290 and R600, and I think even the outlawed R-134a. R600 is used almost exclusively in India, but it is illegal most everywhere else.

I admit...I'm confused. But, when it comes to goofy libtard...ooops! I promised, "liberal" mantras and how the even goofier federal guvmint regulates things, I stay lost. Never seems to be much of any rhyme or reason. Probably has to do with Nancy Pelosi's family holding a patent on R-410....or something.
