October 13th, 2011: LSU opposes merger study
November 9th, 2011: Report urges stronger LSU-ShreveportLombardi noted he finds it “strange” that the group would look to consolidations with LSU-Shreveport or the LSU Health Sciences Center in Shreveport when the UL System has three universities on the Interstate 20 corridor.
“For example, Louisiana Tech, Grambling and the University of Louisiana Monroe are all within that I-20 Corridor and merging them through the good office of the (UL) System would surely make more sense than attacking the integrity of the LSU System,” he stated.
March 7th, 2012: Move Tech into the LSU SystemLSU System President John Lombardi complained last month that the Shreveport-based study was being conducted without involving the LSU System. He suggested that Louisiana Tech was better off merging with Grambling State University and the University of Louisiana at Monroe than with LSU-Shreveport.
John Lombardi has an idea--move Louisiana Tech University into the [LSU] system.
The move could align the research capacities at both Tech and LSUS and would take a regional approach to education while answering the need for programs in the Shreveport Bossier area, Lombardi said.
“We need to leverage what we have,” he said. “I think Tech can succeed in either system but I also think there are significant advantages to becoming part of the LSU system.”
He's making the presentation at LSUHSC - a slap in Tech's face IMO.
We threaten the LSU system, and Lombardi is feeling it.
Lombardi isn't worth spitting on. I hope we get this to spite him.
Lombardi's invitation to the party get lost in the mail?
You gotta love a part-crasher.

Louisiana Tech Administrative Position – Louisiana Tech/LSU-Shreveport Merger
http://news.latech.edu/2012/03/08/lo...veport-merger/
"As important as it is to share our position and express the reasons we support this merger, it is equally important for us to dispel any rumors or misinformation that could present unnecessary obstacles. One such inaccuracy is that Louisiana Tech has expressed an interest in transferring to the LSU System in lieu of the proposed merger. I want to be clear in stating that we are not interested in considering or pursuing this alternative."
"We feel that it’s important to note that Louisiana Tech did not initiate this proposal; rather, it was the result of a comprehensive study commissioned by the Shreveport-Bossier Imperative, a concerned group of business and community leaders, and the State Board of Regents. It’s a genuine source of pride and inspiration that so many recognize the strength of Louisiana Tech and are looking to us for leadership and progress."

What LSU "system?" LSUBR doesn't give a rat's ass about the other campuses (campi???). That old fool, Lombardi, is just trying to save his own worthless job.
