Study says La Tech and LSU-S should merge

LSU-Shreveport should merge with Louisiana Tech University within the nine-school University of Louisiana System, according to a new study released Thursday that was commissioned by Shreveport-area business leaders.
Consolidating the institutions would mean a larger Louisiana Tech with both Ruston and Shreveport campuses and the LSU affiliation would be lost. The LSU Health Sciences Center in Shreveport would not be directly affected.
The study was initiated out of concern that the higher education needs of the Shreveport-Bossier City region are not being met, while smaller Ruston is home to one of state’s best public universities in Louisiana Tech.

Agree wholeheartedly! Online universities offer degree programs to a targeted population (undergraduate, graduate, and some doctoral degrees) that traditional "brick and mortar" schools don't provide. Their programs are more specifically aimed at those that are in the work force whereby their work schedules prohibit them from completing compulsory education at a traditional colleges or universities. Not all, but some actually offer very valuable degrees.

But this conversation is better suited for another thread…besides isn’t there already a thread on the merger on TECH and LSU-S? Why another?

They aren't totally online. I know a guy who is working on a masters degree there. He attends actual classes at the boardwalk....above O'Brien's Pub

The way college football is going, Phoenix online could start a football team and wreck shop. Seriously, a student fee would probably bring in 30 million, their market is the entire United States. Pretty much the real deal. I heard they are now an Alliance candidate.
