    Techster goes against lsu sunday

Former LA TECH tennis player and new Auburn Tiger coach Lauren Longbotham Meisner (2003) leads her Tiger Tennis Team against LSU on Sunday--March 11--at 12:00 in Baton Rouge.
Tech fans join us for battle against the tiggers. Longbotham Meisner led SMU to the NCAA tournament last spring and was the Texas Region Coach of the Year. Her young team is fresh off a 5-2 upset of #34 Arkansas on friday. Come Sunday and be LA TECH loud and proud!

Yes. Some only support football, etc and that's fine. If someone lives close, the invitation is there. Do people support businesses owned or run by Tech grads? sure. Do people support businesses that support the athletic department? Did Meisner get the traditional beer thrown on her at LSU-Tech football? check. While coaching against LSU, had fans encouraged her to get her ass off the court before? check. Get to spend 2 hours seeing great changes at Tech last fall? check? Have to sit quiet at a college tennis match? No. Like all things LSU? Some do, some don't, I've noticed. Underdogs Sunday, sure, a chance for an upset? Hope so. Just random thoughts from a Tech athletes' dad. Hope all is well with you and your family Soonerdawg.

Wimbledon player with La. Tech connection

Check out Ryan Harrison in 2nd round at Wimbledon. He is playing Djokovic in 2nd round so he probably will lose (could be a Cinderella story?). Harrison is currently number 48 in the world. Check out his bio on ATP rankings. His grandfather played runningback on the 1949 team at Tech.
"Began playing at age two...Nicknamed "Harry"...Father, Pat, played collegiate tennis at Oklahoma State and Mississippi before a brief pro career in futures and challengers... Mother, Susie...Oldest of three children in family; brother, Christian (born 29 May 1994) and sister, Madison (15 December 1996)...Christian is also a tennis player, and Ryan calls him, "very good. Best in the world for his age"...At age 11, Ryan entered Shreveport City Championships and reached final, where he lost to his dad...In 2005, family moved to Texas and his dad became head pro at John Newcombe's Tennis Academy in New Braunfels where he now trains...Grandfather, Jimmy, was running back at Louisiana Tech, earning All-American honors in 1949...Considers grass favorite surface...Big New Orleans Saints fan...Likes rock music, and Lifehouse is his favorite band...Reached a career-high No. 7 in world junior rankings in April 2008...Advanced to semi-finals at Australian Open juniors in '08...Family moved to the Nick Bollettieri Tennis Academy in 2008."

Re: Wimbledon player with La. Tech connection

We came really close to getting his father Pat Harrison to play tennis at Tech in 1985. He wanted to transfer here from Ole Miss but had issues getting into school.

Try reading that out loud in one breath! You should write fast bios for a living. It was amazingly coherent and I enjoyed it thoroughly. Particularly the TECH connection.

I can't take credit for the summary. I cut and pasted that from ATP's website.
Just got finished watching Djokovic-vs-Harrison on ESPN, Harrison lost 4-6, 4-6, 4-6. Not bad against number 1 in the world. They said on the broadcast that Harrison will be representing the US in the Olympics.
