I've heard that the NFL made an offer, but Vilma does not want to settle because he wants the NFL to come clean with their evidence, so he declined the offer. At that point, the NFL claimed that it never offered. Sort of the same process as lsu never offering a player who committed to La. Tech.

The judge showed very clearly that she sides with Vilma, and I would bet that Goodell is talking to Benson about ways to settle while "saving face". About two weeks ago Vilma sent out a tweet saying that Benson had called him to give him his full support, so this might put that commitment to the test.

It benefits both sides to settle, because Vilma won't win his defamation suit, but it also sounds like Goodell's ruling won't stand up either. I hope Vilma forces them to show their evidence, but that is the last thing the NFL wants to do.

It will be interesting to see what comes from this meeting.
