And paid for most of the expense of that travel up into Midwest. That is what most programs at that level do....pay good to bring them to your place and most of the time with their umpire crew or league crew.

What does an umpire crew earn for a college game? Are all expenses covered? I hear MBB refs earn darn good money.

An umpire told me that D1 college baseball umpires earn about $200 a day plus expenses. For a 3 game series, that would be about $600 plus expenses.

MBB referees earn about $750 to $1000 a game plus expenses. The best MBB refs earn well over $100,000 for the season in salary and can pocket a good bit of extra money because of the per diem and saving on travel. I saw an article one time that said MBB refs are paid the cost of airfare from their home to the game. They travel from game to game without returning home so the extra money goes into their pocket. Some work 10 days or more in a row without a break.

I'm listening to PWalsh and JMac call the game on All-Access. I think the audio at MTSU was free, but the audio for this game is premium content.
