Do they not make Pelican cases large enough? Those are indestructible.

That's the way to go, you'll never buy another case!
We found some durable ones I forgot the company name and website. They are going to have those bigger wheels on them so we won't have to keep replacing the small ones that we currently have or lack of.
Just an Update:
We've recently been awarded a grant for $5,000. That money is much needed and long over due. However, we still are short of our goal $25,000. I know most are donating to Tech Athletics which is great, but don't forget about us as well. We're trying to make this band better from the bottom all the way to the top, literally. Tech athletics says it and I know I have our alumni is huge is for us.Our band alums in particular is paramount.
Instead of just asking (or begging) for money, why don't you guys (BOP) schedule a fund raising concert, or a summer concert series in an outdoor park, where you guys can perform and raise money at the same time? Seems to me that's a great way to show your talents as well as mobilize longer term supporters for the arts.

That's what I'm looking for, some internal initiative from the band leadership and the band itself. I appreciate what TUBA is doing regarding determining and prioritizing needs and taking the initial step to reach out to this Board. Organizing and starting is often the hardest step. But while this site is long on passion and ideas, it has short pockets. An organized appeal to a wider audience, like a concert (4th of July?) or a series of mini-concerts or just a mini-appearance presence at local festivals (Peach) where you could publicize the needs and instill a vision of what the BOP could be might be a great step toward establishing reliable underwriting. Creating a video(s) of bands at schools similar to Tech that, because of better funding, have dramatic impacts on school spirit and have become an independent source of pride separate and distinct from athletics would be a great fund raising tool. I assume that Tech has resources to assist in that regard.
I, for one, am willing to contribute to the development of a video that could be used in fund raising and I'm confident that Squire Creek would be willing to assist as a venue for one of the fund raisers, perhaps an invitation-only.

We have football camps, basketball camps and baseball camps where we charge to teach high school players fundementals for a fee. Has the same been considered for band? A chance to spreaad the news and gather the money.
They used to have band camps years ago. Guess they fell by the wayside.
I agree band staff should be showing/doing more leadership. But at the same time though this is why I started this organization. I highly doubt it is going to happen to be honest with you. In regards to a band camp, next year from what I hear the National Music Education Organization our chapter is planning some kind of band camp for next summer. I don't know where money is going or how it's going to spent or any other details yet, but I know something is in the works.
As far as doing summer concerts, that is going to be hard not many band students are around and may be difficult. Everything is done at the last minute and I honestly don't understand why we don't do more fundraising for ourselves. I know they tried selling "ad space" on the back on the concert programs that was an epic fail and I knew it would be. Not a single person/business bought into that.
Once we get everything we need for TUBA we are going to move on to the rest of the band to make improvements since no one else seems to want to do something. That's why I've been pushing so hard so we can get everything we need and move on to the next challange.
So please tell us again about "everything we need for "TUBA."
