The Northwestern State University athletic administration has interviewed three candidates for its open women’s basketball coaching position and could name a new head coach later this week.

Interviewed from among the more than 150 applicants were Texas Tech assistant coach and former Lady Techster guard Brooke (Lassiter) Stoehr, Natchitoches Central High School coach Emma Boozman and Delta State head coach Sandra Rushing.

I wonder if she'd keep Frierson on as an assistant if hired.

Emma Boozman? Well.....ahem.

One issue to possibly look at is Boozman was Brandy Broome's coach at Natch Central. But, I don't think that fact alone would sway Broome to choose NSU. Gonna leave it at that.

Man, I know we have done some of this in the past, but more and more, HC's are adding coaches that can bring players.........

They have been working together as Assistants since they were married. TVCC has a couple, as well, that are now headed to MState with Adrian Wiggins. It seems to work for some - for some, I couldn't imagine it working.

The couple has one small child, and Brooke is seven months pregnant, so they weren't looking to leave Lubbock, she said. But the chance was too good to pass up.

That was my guess why. I can see how co-coaches makes for an easier transition during these times. But the dynamics of women having co-coaches for this reason brings up questions of gender inequalities and perceptions... (Sorry, my "history grad student" hat is on right now.)
