Football The Annual Pre-Snap Read Countdown

The off-season is officially here so let the countdown begin! Paul Myerberg is the best in the business.

We Have Lift Off (Sort Of)

Who's No. 124? Tomorrow’s team played its first game 51,801 days after the first game in college football history.

    Arbitrary top five list

Best power forwards in N.B.A. history
    1. Tim Duncan (1997-present)
    2. Karl Malone (1985-2004)
    3. Bob Pettit (1954-65)
    4. Charles Barkley (1984-2000)
    5. Kevin Garnett (1995-present)

Tim Duncan is NOT a power forward. He looks like a center and plays like a center. Thus, Duncan is a center. I can't believe people are believing that stunt by the Spurs media relations department. The Spurs only list him as a power forward so they can promote him as the best power forward ever because he does not sniff the top 5 centers of all-time. /rant

Who is No. 123? The next program — on whatever day it falls — has the best career winning percentage of any program in the F.B.S.

Fortunately, we are going to have to wait for a good while until we see our name pop up...

Guessing 50's at worse, hoping for mid-low 40's.

While I think we belong there, I am not sure the national writers do. Or at least they do not believe we belong ahead of marginally good AQ teams. Although Myerberg is one of, if not the best, it is still a subjective call. Would they put us ahead of a potential 7-5 SEC or Pac 12 team, probably not.

I agree that Paul is the best. Very thorough in his write-ups. Last year was the first time I kept up with his countdown and I'm looking forward to it this year.

This year is different. A surge mid way through the season (with very close losses early), a good bowl, and a good opponent with a respected name. We have seen some hype about what we might be next year. I think he will put us on up the ladder.

We get some love in the first article. Quotes like "While teams like Louisiana Tech will drop more than a few crooked numbers" can't hurt.

I predict LA Tech will be ranked #41 in this 2012 preseason poll.

Does anyone recall what our preseason ranking was in this poll last year?
