We should be ranked in the top 30. My guess is 42.

Looking Beyond 2012 in San Antonio

But Louisiana Tech’s history, though fairly distinguished, shows a program that rolls in cycles. Good for a few years, down for a few years, good again and then bad again, it’s hard for the WAC to view the Bulldogs as the long-term power it needs to stand on the same ground as the MAC, the Mountain West and Conference USA.

I enjoy how everyone is just assuming that UTSA is a shoe in to be great in a few year just because they are in Texas and are in the mythological large market. Last time I checked, UNT was in the Dallas market and been playing football for a while and haven't sniffed being mediocre since their dominating really really bad Sun Belt teams in the late 90's.

The key will be how much $ the powers that be in SA are willing to spend. They seem pretty fired up about moving up.

I agree with you. People laughed at me a few months ago when I stated that UTSA and Texas St would be quality additions to the 2012 WAC....AFTER they had been members of the WAC for about 5 years. Now some of those same people who were laughing then are now concerned that UTSA might usurp LA Tech's chances of getting into CUSA.

IMO, UTSA could have made a respectable showing in a 2012 WAC that included Texas St, NMSU, SJSU, etc... But asking UTSA to compete at the CUSA/MWC Alliance level is a joke. They can't do it. I hope we beat 'em 75-0 this year.

Could turn out to be like UAB also. Money may go away if the team is uncompetitive. Or big brother may help them reign it in some.
