If only the conference champs were allowed to play for the championship, it would correct some of the problems with the current system. If for instance a team was continually ending up last in the SEC or Big __, their best bet might be to negotiate a move to say the Sun Belt. They may want to give up the guaranteed money flow for a chance at the big championship, while allowing a dominant team in a 'lesser" conference a chance to step up their competition.
i don't see any schools leaving the top 6 conferences to join the sun belt or mac anytime soon...
the tier two schools have a 1 in 28 chance of making the playoffs
the acc and big east have a 1 in 12
the pac 12 have a 1 in 4 chance
the big 12, big 10, and sec have a 1 in 5 chance
sounds fair to me....?

added one more conference game for the big 6 conferences and one ooc game for the "tier two" conferences...new and last manifesto to be posted shortly.....stay tuned
Maybe. It could likely cause more problems.
You could also say that a conference that never had any of its member teams advance in the playoffs, shouldn't have a guaranteed spot in the playoffs at the expense of a higher ranked, second place team in a more competitive conference. People are upset enough with Big East conference having an automatic bid to BCS bowl, so I don't think there will be a move to make things worse with conference champs getting into the playoffs automatically (unless you think that a Sun Belt conference champ is more powerful than a second place Pac12, Big 12, big 10, or SEC team).
Mods, can you change the name of this thread to Skunk Ass Ramblings?
I thought Ted Kaczynski was "previously detained" but apparently not.

the reason why the mens ncca d1 basketball tournament is worth billions and one the most popular sporting event in the us is because each school (and their fans) control their own destiny...if your in an auto-bid conference win your conference and your in...is the winner of the Southland tournament better than some teams that didn't make the basketball tournament? probably not but they had a chance of getting in by winning their tournament or an at large bid.... would the winner of the sun belt/mac be better than some of the teams from the sec or big 12 that didn't get into the football tournament? probably not but they had a chance to get in by winning their conference or getting one of the two other bids the sec or big 12 are awarded.
follow the money!!

Hope you enjoyed your weekend and the fever passes. (messin' with you, you obviously enjoy this)
"fever passes?" must be southern thing?
enjoy this? i would enjoy a true playoff system like i proposed but it will probably never happen so i hope my school doesn't jump up because the best result possible would be the something like the Famous Dave's BBQ Bowl...good luck in c-usa and i hope you beat up on texas a&m this fall!!
