Can alumni come?
I'm sure there will be some kind of media release about it in the next day or two.
When Robken told the band they were booked for the BIG announcement....he told them it would be a historic announcement, but that he was not permitted to tell them the specifics of what it was.
Oh good grief.
If we're going to bring this up again, we might as well bring up more threads about Kim Mulkey jilting LA Tech, the Sunbelt being LA Tech's only viable option, and a couple of more threads on ULL's unapproved use of the name "Louisiana". That should keep us all quite busy.

I feel like this week will never end!!! Come on Friday!!!
Personally I think it is just to announce that we are switching back to coke products
Or Jim Oakes is coming back.
While joining CUSA makes the most sense of our current conference options, I don't consider it some "historic" event for Louisiana Tech University. When we joined the WAC, as it was in 2001, it was a better conference than the current CUSA. Was that a "historic" event too?
The merger with LSUS, or some such event like that, would be "historic" as that affects the university as a whole. But, joining yet another conference??? Nah!
Everyone finally rowing the boat in the same direction is fairly historic . Making headway beats taking on water any day.
We were on the verge of losing half our fans if we didn't get into CUSA. It's the regional conference we've always hoped for. We now share a conference with Tulane and USM.... maybe we can be joined with them from here on out (or at least until we take the next step up). It's historic when the alternative would be announcing that we were joining the Sun Belt.
times have changed. conferences have changed, merged, and are dieing. that move was big,but it was still below MW and Cusa, then many teams left. In the past few years, one of the big boys (BE) is slipping, the MW and Cusa have emerged as the best non-BCS conferencesand are merging, the divide between CuSA/ MW and belt is growing. If we get in Cusa, we would be in position to take the next step to a big conference or overtake the big east as a whole and become a big conference.. Also, this move would finally entirely separate us from UL's and provide security that our program never has had.
This is a REALLY BIG DEAL. It completely separates Tech from the UL-twins. We'll be conference mates with regional schools that we WANT to be associated with like USM, Rice, and Tulane. There was room for only one more Louisiana school in CUSA, so it was absolutely imperative that Tech be the winner of that seat .
I've been with La Tech in some form or fashion since 1964. The attitude now is thru the roof for support like I've never seen. The merger is a no brainer with LSUS and getting into a GOOD conference that developes good rivelries with other good teams is essential. We have NEVER had the city of Ruston and the college on the same page for support. By that I mean when Tech had a home game it was not an event, just another home football game, but now we do. Friday is a Major Event in La. Tech history as far as I can see.
