With membership in a regional conference should Tech schedule games against ULL/ULM?

If the LSUS merger happens look for him to hang around long enough for things to kind of settle in (maybe 2-3) years. It gives him the ability to go out saying look how well I did CUSA, physical ownership of the Shreveport market, academics remained or strengthened in most areas.

If the LSUS merger doesn't happen this year then it might happen sooner, but probably still close to the same time frame. With Rea retiring and Guice having had plenty of time to be groomed and get in good with the political allies needed to do the job, I think DR has gotten very near the end here.

He needs to go ASAP. He sounded terrible today.

A drive down there to play the Cajuns is a fun trip. Of course they could visit us and a great home game. I don't get an argument why not to play either. We have always wanted to have close games.

We want to separate La Tech from the "Louisiana directional schools." ULM and ULL get virtually no respect in the college sports world. I agree, FB & BB games with those schools were always well attended and, back in the FCS (aka Div 1-AA) days, very competitive and entertaining games. But that was 20 years ago. Our long term objective is to get into a BCS conference and have a national reputation on par with those caliber programs. Playing ULL & ULM won't get us there.

AND we definitely do NOT want to bring them along with us!!! The Louisiana cities where we need to show off Tech are Shreveport, New Orleans, and BR. That is where the people are that can grow the Bulldawg Nation. Monroe high schools have outstanding players and their fans are rabid and knowledgeable. Those players and fans will make the trip to Ruston as our program gets stronger.

I say no and the buyout is pretty low. 300-350k?? Sign a guarantee game and use the money to pay the buyout. Hopefully against a lower tier SEC/ACC/BIG12 type of team.

Good Idea. Tulane...see their schedule for2013 at FBschedules.com... Tulane may skip their trip to Monroe, since, Tech is aboard now to play them that year. Funny...could be a real kick in the head for NLU. They are really gonna freak out when Tulane drops them. I looked up Tech's schedule for 2013 as well,...Interesting that after our home game against Army on 9/28, our slate is all TBA (to accommodate CUSA teams). Our CUSA brother should become aware that they now have no room in the inn for the ULx's.

ULL and ULM will not come to Ruston for a guarantee.

WHY ? Once in every 10 years...maybe. Are we moving on to better things or what ??? We have to do what's best for us, the school, it's fans and the city of Ruston. If a game with these schools works out for some unkown reason down the road - so be it. But for now can't even see these guys on the radar for quite some time. There's way to much to do with scheduling etc. inside a new conference. Nope, can't see it for awhile.

As far DR is concerned, I think he sticks around and retires at the end of the 2013/2014 school year. That allows him to go through our last year in the WAC and first year in CUSA. It would make for pretty perfect timing. Nothing concrete to base this on obviously, just a gut feeling....or maybe it is the tacos!

Rather than making him the presumptive favorite to replace DR, being his hand-picked successor will be a liability to overcome, not a quiet pathway to the presidency.
