Thanks. Now I think I remember the change.

Remove athletics and professional schools . . . medical, law, vet, are about the only differences in Tech and SEC schools.

Latest blogpost from Jeff Sadow: Glover ups ante in insults to LSU
http://jeffsadow.blogspot.com/2019/0...ts-to-lsu.html
Why Glover seems determined to reduce LSU’s northwest Louisiana footprint as much as he can – by yanking LSUS from the System, not discussing more realistic options such as merging Tech into LSUS or LSUS with LSUHSC or not giving LSU the chance to open a law school – remains unknown. What we do know is Glover will do what Glover does, even if there are no good reasons or significant support behind his actions.
My sides have left the planet
This LSUS professor Jeff Sadow is unfit to teach.
When I was at LSUS there were two Poli-Sci Professors. Dr. Sadow and Dr. Pederson. Dr. Sadow was the extreme conservative but had such a dry personality no one in their right minds wanted to take his classes. Dr. Pederson was a dyed in the wool Oregonian Liberal but one of the best professors I ever had. He was that rare breed of leftist stalwart that would listen to your side and openly debate in class without getting nasty or foolish. Sadow is just trying to protect is job here and I am not surprised at all.

SADOW: The Streamlining Of Higher Education In Louisiana Is Needed
April 16th, 2019
" This system with too few potential students chasing too many baccalaureate-and-above institutions that disproportionately receive taxpayer money relative to other state needs could use reconfiguration that cuts excess costs. Practically speaking, demoting some such institutions to community college status and merging others would accomplish this goal.
Legislators need to concentrate on completing that policy agenda, not sniping abut student costs when only now, after years of increases, does that amount begin to reflect students paying what they should. "

Sadow's dry personality comes across in his blog posts. The combination of his personality and his love of using really big words to sound smart makes his posts barely readable. Even if I agree with Sadow in one of his posts, I need to read the post two or three times just to understand the point he is trying to make.
Sadow supports merging universities, but not with his place of employment.
Yep and he doesn't realize he is part of the problem. Universities need to merge. Just not mine. I think the real issue is that everyone will have different criteria for how to decide who gets merged. And everyone's criteria magically benefits them. ULM, LSUS, LSUA would probably support merging schools around major metropolitan areas as long as they got to stick around after the merger. Unfortunately that's not a very good model as those are not particularly great schools to build around.
The scariest problem about this is when it does come time to fix the problem, the politicians won't chose to do what is right. They will answer the call of those that whine and complain the most. Tech has done more with less for generations, yet would be the first to hurt when this goes down.
I've changed my mind on this merger deal. I thought Cedric had his ducks in a row. Don't believe that's the case now. Looks more like Cedric being Cedric and the odds are very long so pretty unlikely.
I still think it's an opportunity for Tech if it came together in a fiscally responsible manner. Guess we'll see what happens soon enough.
