"It feels like Groundhog Day," he said. "We've been having the same discussion for two decades and haven't gotten anywhere. We can blame the Board of Regents. We can say its because we haven't gotten our change of role, scope and mission, but the reality is that things haven't changed at all." Woods said the urgency is placed on doing something to help LSUS now before it's too late. "If you look at next year's budget, LSUS is receiving yet another cut on top of the $8 million in cuts during the past three years," he said. "Folks, we're broke. He said he supports the merger because of the opportunities available to both universities. "A merger can help all of us," he said. "Dan Reneau gets more money per student at Tech than Vince Marsala does at LSUS. The merger allows us to get more money for the students at LSUS and resolves the role, scope and mission issue all at once."

    Re: The Merger Thread II

Just got notice that the House Committee on Education has added H.B. 964 (the merger) to the agenda for Tuesday, May 8th. This is just a committee meeting to see if it has enough support to be sent to the full house for a vote. Please don't stop contacting the lawmakers & other politicians. This is beginning to gain momentum. The list above is only the North LA Lawmakers. We need to contact all of the legislator's statewide. Remember that this will need a 3/4ths vote. 70 House & 26 Senate. Please keep up the great work & Go Dawgs!

    Re: The Merger Thread II

I got this email from Tech today. Are they serious that legislators are being barraged by the anti-merger side at a rate of 4:1. That's crazy. There's really that much anti-merger sentiment?

THE TIME IS NOW!!Contact the legislators of northwest Louisiana and ask for their support and vote for the merger of Louisiana Tech and LSU-S. Reports are that these legislators are being barraged with calls from the anti-merger side at a rate of 4:1.Both the House and Senate bills related to the merger are being heard by their respective education committees NEXT WEEK!
