I think we help our case more by touting the greatness and accomplishments of Tech than we do by disparaging other universities and their students and staff.
Just read Dr. Rozeman's article. Dr. Rozeman has been an excellent leader towards the cause of a merger. He has been a long-time leader in our community towards improving education in our area, the state, and the nation. We owe him thanks even if the merger doesn't occur.
I agree. Dr. Rozeman certainly seems to be putting the needs of the Shreveport-Bossier community above all else. He has a vision, and he articulates his message very well. I hope he gets to speak directly to the legislature in Baton Rouge when this issue come up for a vote.

This may hurt the bill, since he is a supporter.

How bout them Dawgs!
Wow. Looks like a lot of the politicians in BR are delegating their authority to make budget cuts to Commissioner of Administration Paul Rainwater. On the surface this appears to be a spineless way for the Representatives to act. Apparently they don't want to be held responsible for the $267M in state budget cuts that are coming. After the cuts are made by Rainwater, they can go back to their constituents and say, "Hey, I didn't cut your budget.....Paul Rainwater did."
Not sure how this affects the merger, though.

The article says that Fannin angered some other lawmakers, but who would blame them for Fannin saying they would not get re-elected if they voted for the budget cuts. Makes me think they will try to ax anything with his name on it.
How bout them Dawgs!
You misunderstood the article. Fannin didn't say that. He said they would likely not be re-elected because they abbrogated their duty (to someone else) to make the budget cuts. That's the whole point: He wants his fellow lawmakers to make the cuts, not Rainwater.
They are just angry that Fannin accused them of shirking their responsibility. But it doesn't change the fact that he is right.Fannin fought the amendment as an abrogation of duty to control the budget, but Henry and others said it places restrictions on where cuts could be made.

Tech posted a "contact your legislatures" on Facebook today. As soon as it appeared, someone wrote "so they would be the Tiger-Dogs?". The ignorance of this is TOTALLY blowing my mind. I corrected her (in a nice educational way), but this is what we are facing in Shreveport. I knew this was on the surface, but this whole process has shown how deep it really goes in Shreveport. The public truly believes lsubr has a campus in Shreveport.

He did just take a couple fundraising trips out of state.
Bobby Jindal is our friend. Be nice to him.
