In this case, I think it does.
There are some exceptions to splitting conferences geographically, like Vanderbilt and Auburn and Missouri or the Michigan schools in the Big 10.
But CUSA clearly added the teams they added based on geography to begin with. We're not going to have some crazy-big tv deal that completely mitigates travel distances.
Besides the fact that it has already been mentioned here and there, if you simply look at a map there is no doubt we'll be in the West.

This past spring at our WAC meetings, I submitted a proposal to change the by-law that requires the home team to be seated on the same side as its student body. I am happy to report that the conference accepted our proposal and the rule will no longer exist beginning this fall, thus allowing our football team to remain on the West (home team) sideline for all games this fall if we so choose.
