I'm seeing a shift in sports from Shreveport to Ruston as of late. From my valued sources (uh umm) it was told to me that Captains Stadium has been "condemed" because of NON POTABLE water (bad water not for drinking)...and non playable for awhile. OK - so the LHSSA looked to the leader in putting on such a baseball tournament at minutes notice and that was Ruston. I'm so proud they the City Of Ruston could oblidge, of which there facitlties are much better anyway!
I'ma telling you guys - Ruston is on the move in a lot of ways. Similar to Allen Texas, it takes leadership on how to grow a community and Ruston has plenty of room to grow! For a town to prosper it needs young families for it's support and future. A city full of retired folks is nice but growth is limited based on that, I would say.
Ruston is a College town and it's citizens have to have a great eduacational system in place to hopefully feed the college and then the college has to offer a multitude of courses to teach them with great professors. Things begin to snow ball when people want to build something GOOD. The spark was the atmoshere we've created with the hard work to get into Conference USA. That's the start of the snowball and then it starts to pick up more snow as it goes along...affecting a lot of people. Of course then Sun finally come's out, but that's when go after the Frigerator: the Fans, Season Ticket Holders, LTAC Donations, the Great Student Body and of course the City of Ruston - Great Coaching, our Dean and the Band Of Pride that really tops it off.
We have a lot to be proud of and it's only starting !
