    Re-Watching the P-Bowl

I'm bored and my wife is out on a "Girl's Night."

O-Line played great. If Colby brings his average throw down about 6", I think we win this game. Lots of over-throws on some potential big plays.

Hunter Lee is fighting admirably, but he really needed some help that night.

    I'm bored, I know.

If we ever showed how thin we were at RB it was that game. Creer would have been enough to win that game.

How many times did we attempt to run in the second half? Was H.L. just too tired to run the ball in the second half?

An equally valid question: Is Franklin really THAT bad? And its corollary: Did Dykes AGREE, and if not, why did he not override?

You said, along with many others, that Creer would have made the difference. Just wondering where/when we needed him?

We needed the extra set of legs. I think that having only one good RB hampered our offense.

    Food for thought:

First half offense: 49 plays, 288 yards total, 2 turnovers (1 fumble, 1 INT), a missed FG, 17:42 TOP.

Second half offense: 21 plays (6 in the 4th quarter), 94 total yards (61 on the M White TD), 14 points off turnovers, 5:50 TOP.

TCU's D found their groove in the second half and we didn't adjust. Who knows if an extra RB would've helped. Our defense couldn't get off the field for us to find out.

They found their groove? It was more like they said, "go home little boys, we're tired of playing with you."

    Re: Re-Watching the P-Bowl

We still scored enough points to win. TCU killed us with their long, time consuming, 19-play drive (or whatever it was) early in the 4th qtr. They just "outmanned" us. They finally figured out they couldn't beat us with the big play, so they just rammed it down our throat old school style. Woody Hays would have loved it. Nothing fancy.....no big plays....just 3 yards here, 4 yds there, 3 yds again, etc....until they finally found pay dirt on a controversial TD. They literally wore us down with a couple of long drives.

c.mon Mr. Shirley!!! I really like to hear your perceptive, knowledgeable comments, but ones' like this just make you sound bitter. Do you really think you have a better scheme than Dykes/Franklin put on the field?Maybe I should ask Coach Patterson.

So in your opinion, the reason we didn't continue to run the ball in the second half was "tired legs".

It was a great gameplan that was shut down by a fresher, more experienced team in the second half. If we had a handful of positions on both sides of the ball with more depth, we win going away. We will have a lot of depth where we missed it last year, but I am worried we will not have it in others that will still cost us.
