Fresno State will definitely be the #5 seed, and Tech will definitely be the #6 seed. The top 4 seeds depend on what NMSU does against SJSU today.

Sim said this a couple days ago on the radio when asked about how his recruiting philosophy changed with the new bats. He said that he's started recruiting players who can bunt and run.
How does that cure our offensive ineptitude? I don't know. It's much more difficult to teach a bunter how to hit than to teach a hitter how to bunt. You need talent to be able to hit at this level, but anybody can learn to bunt with a little practice. If you can't hit, it doesn't matter how good you can bunt because you won't score enough runs to win games.
Pitching and defense win in baseball.
Of course, if you hope to make the NCAA baseball playoffs and enjoy some success after getting there, you have to have enough offense, since you are very likely to run into teams that also have good pitching and defense (which is why they are in the playoffs!).
But, obviously, Sim hasn't mastered the "getting good pitching and defense" portion of the formula. Evidenced by Tech's blatant lack of NCAA participation.
Besides LSU, has any college in LA went post season in the last 10 years? This is not an excuse for lack of, I am just curious

Is it just me,or does this thread repeat every year?
Game 3 - going to the bottom of the 7th...Tech 4-2
I may have missed some, but I counted 19 non-LSU Louisiana bids looking through the brackets from the last 10 years. Tulane was even a #1 overall seed one year.
2002 - Tulane, La-Lafayette, Southern
2003 - Tulane, McNeese, Southern
2004 - Tulane
2005 - Tulane, La-Lafayette, Northwestern St, Southern
2006 - Tulane
2007 - La-Lafayette, UNO
2008 - Tulane, UNO
2009 - Southern
2010 - La-Lafayette, Grambling

Final Tech 5-2
They must not be on campus at this time.
This team really poor on defense as well, one of worse over years under Sim. Impact pitching and what you try to do on offense in many of those games. Hitting problem as well. Seen enough decent pitching, not great, that good defense and even avg offense would have won 8-10 games we lost pretty easily.
Kids going to college programs in the next 5 years will be better bunter and hit and run skills simply because seeing it a lot more now in High School ball with change in bats at that level taking place now. Will just evolve as all things do with change.
It never fails to amaze me that with the millions of Little League, Pony League, High School, American Legion, etc. players out there that we cannot find a dozen or so that that hit. But I guess everybody else is looking for them too.
But what do I know...my only attempt at playing organized ball (in an adult league) resulted in one hit for the year (and that at my last at bat of the season).
