The only place you could hear a conservative voice was CNN.
    This....

When Crossfire started, it was a legitimate debate and interview program that featured a liberal and a conservative. As soon as the show morphed into a talking points show featuring an ultra-liberal and a moderate, I stopped watching that show and the network in general.

Same here. I didn't watch Crossfire all the time, but it was noteworthy that conservative values and viewpoints were being debated on a major news network like CNN was at that time. In the 80s and into the 90s, people didn't see conservatism debated that much on national television, so Crossfire stood out because of it. Changing the format of the show to include a studio audience and bringing in Carville, Begala, and Carlson killed the show.

CNN's slow decline into irrelevance is similar to the decline of the traditional media. More and more people do not trust the traditional media players, such as the print newspapers, the major broadcast networks, and CNN due to those journalists openly leaning more to the left. Once that trust is gone, it is very difficult to win it back. Also, people today have many more options to get their news from the Internet, as the new media players have emerged like The Drudge Report and the Andrew Breitbart network of websites.

How many of you have actually watched without bias CNN in the last year or two (or decade)? Besides TT paying ever so slight attention to cnn.com, I'm gathering no one here has watched CNN in over 20 years. What could possibly give you the idea that you know anything about them if that's the case?

I watched it quite a bit during Katrina. I was hoping for a view other than the ones being spewed by CBS, ABC, NBC, etc.. I got more of the same from CNN. Case closed.

Re: CNN Ratings Hit 20-Year Low...

I watch all the networks. msnbc is the toughest to stomach, even for short stints. I also listen to NPR, especially when there's a specific news item they are all covering. In this way I can make a comparison on the same issue.....compare apples to apples.

Overall, FOX News does the best job. BUT!!! that is NOT to say they always do the best job. There have been some news' stories when I thought FOX missed an opportunity to present a more balanced view, and one of the other networks, in the case I am thinking of it was CBS, did a slightly better job. But, 90% of the time, FOX will give the closest balanced report.

Truthfully, and this includes FOX, none of them do as well as I think they could. This is a function of capturing an audience, i.e. mostly telling them what they want to hear, getting ratings, and being able to sell advertisement. msnbc and the other libtard networks rail against capitalism, yet practice it to the Nth degree themselves. Self-serving hypocrites.

The only time I watch CNN is when we have big elections... they do a nice job. It is 6 liberals and 2 moderates discussing the results, but it is done professionally.

I watch CNN, although not as much as Fox News. In addition, I frequently visit newsbusters.org, which does a good job of memorializing left wing bias in the news. Do a word search of CNN on Newsbusters and see what you find.

Glenn Beck just said he has more paid subscribers to his internet show than CNN gets for any one program they air.

Think about that... more people are willing to pay to watch Glenn Beck than watch CNN for free!

CNN (the "prime political network") barely covered the Walker win in Wisconsin last night. The broke in to announce the results. And MSNBC was so biased (had the union boss head as a talking head the whole night) in their coverage it made me ill. At least FOX's Hannity calls his show and himself opinion driven and had Juan Williams (ubberlib) on all night.

Re: CNN Ratings Hit 20-Year Low...

I have to wonder if someone is running a black op on you TT because the CNN you report and the CNN there is are two completely different things. (as goes for some other stuff you post about)

It's not surprising that Glenn Beck has 300,000+ paid subscribers. He's opinionated. He doesn't report, he throws out his opinion. Americans loves opinions and not much anything else when it comes to news. They don't want to make up their own mind, they want it made up for them.

Here's a graphic of ratings for last week.
    http://www.allthingscnn.com/2012/06/...28-june-1.html

I find it interesting, despite the ratings, they are raking in $600-million.
    http://www.nytimes.com/2012/05/03/bu...pagewanted=all

Also of note, the smallest amount of research (and paying attention to what is said) will tell you CNN isn't biased enough. The idea they are the Communist New Network or ultra-liberal like MSNBC or anything similar holds no water. They aren't losing ratings because the are like that, it's because they aren't. And, because people want opinions and to be told what to think and CNN isn't opinionated enough (not to be confused with lacking opinions).

I like Erin Burnett, too. She is easy on the eyes. And she comes across as far more intelligent than the FN bimbos.

I was flipping around to all 3 channels last night. If I wanted the conservative view, I went to Fox. If I wanted the liberal view, I went to CNN. If I wanted the socialist view, I went to MSNBC.

I think this summarizes their thoughts pretty well:

MSNBC: What in the world just happened? Can you believe those idiots voted for Walker again?!
CNN: Sure wish Obama would have helped Barrett out more.
Fox: This is probably the beginning of the end of public sector unions. It will embolden conservative governors.

    I need to edit MSNBC's a little.

MSNBC: What in the world just happened? Can you believe those idiots voted for Walker again?! The 1% came in and spent a lot of money to keep the 99% down.
