Just like playing WAC schools, playing MAC schools won't draw flies. There has GOT to be something better than this available 6 years from now.

I suppose it could be that the "HAVES" are already blocking the upper crust of the non-AQs.

This certainly isn't exciting, but this is probably a safe and smart move by BVDV.

BGSU should provide two wins for us.

If there is eventually a merger between C-USA and the MW several years down the road, we are looking at playing either MAC or Belch schools in home-and-home OOC series.

Texas State is the only Belch school I would like to schedule, but we'll be playing 4 Texas teams annually in C-USA.

Bowling Green is not a threat to change conferences anytime soon so we won't be stuck with last minute openings and forced to schedule money games or UL-U-Pick-Em.

The Bowling Green games seem a little less exciting once I discovered the away game will be played in northern Ohio instead of Kentucky.

I agree with you on the Sun Belt schools, although I wouldn't mind playing Arkansas State or Troy in the future.

You never know with these MAC schools. They're up and down like crazy. With our luck 2018 will be the year BG wins 10 games.

It probably won't change our odds of playing an FCS game at all. That's not how this works.

Right. I expect we will always have an FCS game on the schedule, but just saying that if I had my druthers, I would prefer a MAC school to FCS. But I realize a FCS game has certain advantages over a home and home series.

I think Tech will have an FCS game on the schedule most years, but not every single year.

To consistently have 6 home games, we must have one FCS game every single year.

If there are 8 conference games, the schedule most years will fall this way....

    4 home C-USA games
    4 road C-USA game
    2 home-and-home FBS non-BC$ series, 1 home and 1 road each year
    1 FCS home game
1 FBS BC$ money road game

I learned the difference in the two Bowling Greens in 1969 when my car broke down in Bowling Green, KY and I had to spend two days there. I thought about hiding out there because I was on my way back from W. Virginia for my draft physical.

This. It's a pretty simple formula that I've been advocating for a few years. That's how you schedule for success.

    INteresting graphic of the MAC.
I like how their conference is geographically tight knit, with one or two exceptions.

Not me. No more BORING football. Thank goodness for Livas' 2nd quarter kick return for a TD. Otherwise, that Indy Bowl game wouldn't have had any exciting plays at all.

Looking back, that game was one of the most boring football games I've ever seen. I loved getting the bowl win.....but that game was not a good advertisement for our program. Boring football.
