    Re: Another Round of Realignment?

The article reads like a true aq discussion. The gulf between the haves and have-nots was NOT created by tradition and school based decisions. I hate to inform them that the gulf was created with the bcs aq status. Period........

But you are defining "mid-major" as non-aq, when there was no aq. One could easily make the argument that the rich got into aq conferences and kept getting richer. Everyone was Division One at that time that you list as mid-majors. They were on the same playing field. In other words, if Baylor (or take any aq team) would not have made it into an aq conference, they would be in your stats for today's teams that are consistent top 25 non-aq. The argument isn't valid. No red dots, though. LOL

    Re: Another Round of Realignment?

In theory, all BCS teams are equal, but we know that some are more equal than others, and then there are a few that are most equal...

The key statement from GNH is this:

"the consistently ranked teams got the AQ cards punched."

This is where we need to take care of business. If we do, everything else will fall into place.

    Re: Another Round of Realignment?

If people like Spurrier get their way and the big schools get permission to pay athletes $3,000 to $4,000 per year, the gulf will become uncrossable, IMO.

I agree with most of this. The one thing that happened in the recent reallignment, though, is schools that were not consistent top 25 got their aq cards punched. I do believe it was that way at the beginning of aq status, though, which is why the stats that Reality posted don't prove that the current haves and have nots were not created by aq. aq status gave them BIG money. Some of them had it already through winning and fan base, but aq tipped it to the point that it was/is hard to catch up. Before aq, it was possible.

You're only taking 7 years out of 62 seasons. If you had used the years 1989-1994, LSU wouln't have made it. They had 6 losing seasons in a row.
