QB Luke McCown and RB Joe Banyard will participate in this week's minicamp. The Saints only have two QBs -- Chase Daniel and Sean Canfield -- currently under contract. Drew Brees remains a no-show with his contract dispute.

Hopefully Luke can compete for that third spot and get carried over into preseason with a chance to earn a spot, Luke is the best preseason quarterback I've ever seen, if he can make it that far I think he'll get a spot holding a clipboard on the sideline. Not what any of us envisioned with the skrawny little freshman from Texas gave Miami all they could handle, but at this point in his career getting a spot on a contender and a chance to get a ring is about the best he can hope for. I was there at minicamp this morning, and Luke was there (#11). The Saints needed an extra QB to run drills, and Luke was available. I don't see him being kept for too long unless he impresses the coaches to keep him over Canfield.

In an interview with coach Vitt, one of the reporters asks about McCown at the 1:35 mark and Vitt gave a good response.
I actually think it's a good match.
Apparently Luke has signed a contract with the Saints. That will guarantee he is around through training camp.

Better news: The article states that Luke was signed for a year. I wish Luke a great year with the Saints! Go Luke!...Just don't celebrate getting the first down, before hand. My face was beet red with embarassment when it was re-played on many sport shows nationwide.
