Ouch? Not sure what you are talking about.

Mike Coleman didn't get an Olympic trials qualifying time until just two weeks ago on the very last day that you could earn a qualifying time. Not only that, his time was the exact Olympic trials A standard time. If he ran 1/100th second slower a couple weeks ago, he wouldn't have been an automatic qualifier to the trials in Eugene.

Once he got to the Olympic trials, he finished in 2nd place in his prelim heat, which shocked everybody. Now he just finished 16th of 21 in the semifinals, which doesn't qualify him for the finals. However, that's really good for Mike and better than everybody expected.

Gotcha. But Mike knew he never really had a chance to finish in the top 3 overall. After he finally got the trials qualifying time at the last second, he set his new goal to just make the finals. He came up short, but he still performed great.

On the other hand, Chelsea does have a shot at London. She ranks #7 right now and just needs to be 3rd best tomorrow.

Louisiana Tech's Chelsea Hayes is about to begin the long jump finals at the US Olympic Trials. Follow live stats here http://bit.ly/Ndax1A

Chelsea Hayes first jump is 22-2.25 (6.76m). She currently leads w/4 athletes still needing to make a first attempt

The jumpers are through the first attempt. Chelsea Hayes is currently in 2nd place. Top 3 make Team USA for 2012 Olympics.

Chelsea Hayes' 2nd jump coming up. She is currently 4th. One of only 2 collegiate jumpers in the field.

Chelsea Hayes fouls her second attempt. Still in 4th place.

They are through two attempts (out of 3) and Chelsea Hayes is still in 4th place. Only 1/4 inch from 3rd.

Chelsea Hayes fouls her final attempt and her bid to join Team USA in the Olympics comes to a close

CORRECTION: They will take the top 8 of 12 for another 3 attempts. Chelsea Hayes with 3 more chances to go to the Olympics!

Entering final 3 jumps, Chelsea Hayes is 5th, only 0.75 in from 3rd place

Chelsea Hayes fouls her 4th attempt. Still in 5th place, two attempts left.

Round 4 is complete. Hayes still in 5th. Now trails 3rd by 4.25 inches. TCU's Whitney Gipson in 3rd.

    Live on NBC now!

Chelsea Hayes fouls again. Obviously taking a risk every time trying to get a big jump. One last attempt left, still in 5th

No reason to play it safe at this point. It's all or nothing. Here's hoping she can get on the board and get a good, clean last jump!

Last round of attempts are beginning. Hayes needs to jump 22-6.75 to make Team USA & the Olympics

Chelsea Hayes is next up on the runway... GOOD LUCK CHELSEA!

OH MY!!!!!! Chelsea Hayes jumps 23-3.5 (7.10m) and is now in FIRST PLACE!!!!

It was a wind-legal jump beating her previous wind-legal school & WAC record mark of 21-10.25

USTFCCCA ‏@USTFCCCA #Eugene2012: wLJ. In R6, Louisiana Tech's Chelsea Hayes with a HUGE jump moving from 4th to take over lead, 23-3½ (7.10)!

Chelsea Hayes now has to withstand four final jumpers. Only needs to finish in top 3

One jumper to go, Chelsea Hayes still in first place

FYI Chelsea Hayes has not signed a professional contract yet so the affiliation "Louisiana Tech" is still listed by her name

Only one jumper to go which means CHELSEA HAYES IS AN OLYMPIAN!!!!

USTFCCCA ‏@USTFCCCA #Eugene2012: wLJ. Amazing competition is now over. La Tech's Chelsea Hayes national champ. Janay DeLoach 2nd, Brittany Reese 3rd.

And it's over! Chelsea Hayes is the NATIONAL CHAMPION and is headed to the 2012 Olympic Games in London!

Hayes beat her previous personal, school and WAC best long jump mark by 1-5.5

NBC is showing parts of the long jump right now

More highlights to come of the long jump in the next 30 minutes

4 jumpers to go in the last round....7.10m was Chelsea's winning jump.

3 left...the Olympic A standard was 6.75m. Imperial measurements are not used in Athletics....all metric.

If 3 qualify, Chelsea has made the team.

DeLoach came up short...only Brittany Reese left.

    Chelsea wins the Trials....

Thanks for the updates. I have been watching the trials, and they didn't mention her as having a possibility when they showed the women earlier. Now it will be much more fun to watch! WTG Chelsea!!!!!

    Re: Olympic Dreams

Chelsea officially finished 2nd. Still qualified for London...but no official results have been posted yet.

Reese's final jump was originally and apparently incorrectly ruled a foul, and that is all that was posted on the results website before all results were taken down.
