I heard someone new is moving into the Shreve GM plant.
Jindal is doing a great job for Louisiana no matter what some of you locals think. He has raised the overall perception and business climate for the state by leaps and bounds across the south and America. Now the reality shows about Louisiana....... not so much..... :icon_wink: although I like them.
Shreveport GM plant acquired by Elio Motors; move lauded by local politicians

Shreveport's shuttered General Motors plant will soon be the home of start-up auto company Elio Motors Inc., Gov. Bobby Jindal's office ...
Sasol is pumping $20 bil into a brand new gas-to-liquid facility in Lake Charles. 7000 jobs. McNeese and Sowela are already busting at the seams trying to train people for it. The Lake Area will not look the same in 10 to 15 years for the better. If you subscribe to Jindals email list, he's announcing new developments all over the state almost every week. Pretty cool stuff going on in Louisiana.

Elio seems like another auto scam.
edit:I don't seem to be the only one that thinks this.

He took us to rock bottom...How else can it be perceived that he is making big improvements . . . . ?
His handling of funding for Higher ed. and healthcare and his focus on being POTUS just doesn't sit well with me. I mean, seriously, this is the first job he's held more than a couple of years.

Problem with Elio in S'port is the Mayor of S'port won't fit in it.
Jindal has done a great job for Louisiana....overall. Have to break some eggs when you make an omelette, and those whose eggs got broken are squawking. But, they only care about their own selfish end, and not what is good for the state.
And nothing ever happens in a vacuum, so even great moves for the state will have some collateral damage. It's unavoidable.
Not true. Louisiana was at rock bottom decades ago. Jindal made many tough decisions that has Louisiana off the bottom with a chance of moving up.
Constitutional constraints, and the nature of the legislature, forces budget-balancing onto the backs of higher ed and HC. It's amazing how so people simply don't get this. As for his trying to position himself to run for POTUS, yeah, I agree, wish he'd just focus on Louisiana. But, that's not human nature is it. Sonny Dykes was auditioning for a better job from day one here. Nature of the beast.
Sundrop Oil.....I think that's the name....is building an alternative fuel plant just north of Alex. They just bought the old, empty, Cowboy Town facility for their use. It will eventually become offices and such.
Louisiana was at the bottom in 2007, and now ranked #2. If Jindal was a football coach everyone would be singing his praises. But alas, his job is not that important in Louisiana.....
The more you read, the more you see Louisiana is probably getting scammed.
