Instapundit - "The constitution stops where the Internal Revenue Code begins."

We knew we were a socialist country when we elected Obama. Bush was not exactly for freedom either. The Constitution has been dead for quite some time. When was the last time we declared war?

What, did we think we could plant weeds and expect tomatoes to grow? We simply got what we elected.

This is the last I will think of it until the election. Too much baseball to be played right now to worry about it.

This ruling just confirms that the "(Un)affordable Care (Control) Act" was and is the largest tax increase in American history...nothing more, nothing less. That is the way it must be described as opposed to all of the lies spun by the demagogue(crat)s who forced it through congress and signed it into law.

    Judgment Day is November 6.

What happened today was put resolve in every republican and conservative and any true independant. It will take me about 10 seconds to fill out my ballot. Find an R, put check by it. Might take a second to see what name is written by it, might not. Any doubters of Romney just solidified their votes.

I think that most folks support it and that the opinions expressed here against it are not representative of the entire country. Should be interesting how it plays out in the November election. If the Democrats keep control of the Senate it will be difficult for Romney (if elected) to change ObamaCare (assuming that he would really want to).

Health care costs are out of control and we need to rein them in,otherwise we will never regain our export market.

I'm beginning to like Roberts. First he throws out the Arizona law, now he upholds health care reform.
I'm actually pretty amazed by this decision. I hope it represents a real evolution in the thinking of John Roberts and not just a couple of instances of temporary sanity.

Liberal chief justice John Roberts........I like the sound of that!

39% of the country support it according to polls. 54% against it.

So this passed because the penalty is considered a tax and that's ok, right? If so, what's to stop them for making us do other things or get penalized (taxed)? Seems like they then could make us do most anything and add a penalty for not doing it be a like a tax so they can get away with it. So where does it end?

Also, how much is the penalty/tax and is it a one-time thing? If so, couldn't one pay the penalty once and be done with it? Then over time with no insurance payments it would "pay for itself"? Not looking to do that, just wouldn't that be one way around it? Plus they said there's no way they can enforce the penalty since it's not a tax. So what's the point?

Get serious. National elections are all about which pompous jerkoffs hold the POWER; there is very little difference between the repugs and the democraps.

obamacare is romneycare under a different name.

Seems most like it except for the individual mandate.

Independents seem to oppose the Supreme Court overturning Obamacare but there are a lot of "don't know" or "undecided" in all of the groups.

Some examples of what could happen:

    1. Fast food "tax". If you eat at McDonald's, you pay a federal "tax."
    2. Gym "tax." If you don't join an exercise facility, you pay a federal "tax."

Nothing stops them but having to face their constituents for increasing taxes...

Am I the only one that paid attention in American Government class? Congress has five main duties: Regulate Commerce, Establish Laws, Coin Money, Establish Post Office & Roads, Declare War, and lay and collect Taxes, Duties, Imposts, and Excises!

Roberts was smart in saying this is not part of the commerce clause it's a tax and kept Congresses powers restricted.
