That's a beautiful looking building, imo. At the least, Tech should utilize the building in Ruston if it doesn't in Shreveport. Looks like a much better Hale Hall.

And thats what I don't like about it. It's butted right up to Allendale which is among the worst neighborhoods in Shreveport. Not to mention the prostitutes frequent that very area. I'd predict robberies on that campus, prostitutes walking the streets very close and people not feeling a strong sense of safety. The downside is that this would be very, very close to The Bottoms
ETA: Oh and then there's a strip club like two minutes up the road.
That's the problem with downtown. The closer to the riverfront (east) the better, but I don't see anywhere in the eastern half of downtown where we could create a campus. A couple buildings? Sure but not a campus. The eastern part of downtown is also the entertainment district (casinos, strip club, boom boom room, psychic, etc.). The southern quarter (from Travis to Edwards and south) is where most of the riffraff hangs out (bus station, treatment/rehab center, library, etc.). I think most of the prostitutes hang out further down Sprague Street past the church.
The location I highlighted in those maps is closest to the convention center, law school, federal and state court houses, a couple churches, Millennium Studios, art space, and wooded area. The area isn't developed, and much of it is for sale. The highlighted area would give us the most space and most freedom of any other location downtown by far. It's about as far as you can get from the strip club and the majority of the riffraff. Yes, The Bottoms are just to the west of the highlighted area, but where else could we build it downtown? That's the problem with downtown Shreveport. There are a lot of problems.

Dare I ask? What is a boom boom room? Sounds like something I should not Google.
I just decided I shall visit Chicky's Boom Boom Room when I make the trek to Shreesport for the A&M game.
This thread's in the ditch.
Love that building, Dawg06! I am okay with it being in the location it is in, especially if we want to revitalize some things downtown! If we took it, it might take a few years, but you would see some changes in the neighborhood too.
Also, the old YWCA (circled in red) is for sale. That could be renovated to serve as a campus recreation center.
Buy some real estate in the bottoms and turn it into apartments. Gated, of course, with some good rates given to some of Shreveport's finest.
The parking areas would have to be secure and/or have good live monitoring.
A good idea might be to completely cut off the streets going into the 'hood so that there isn't "thru" traffic of undesirables on campus.
