I found this comment online about this very issue...
The Incorporated “environmental ” sound of the screaming crowds drowns out the commentators, especially noticed during the Opening ceremony– could not hear Matt and Meredith during the ceremony, could not hear the comentators during the bike races.
It’s not the TV because other stations are fine and some events, gymnastics, can hear, it was also somewhat a problem during the swimm meets with large crowds.
I’m seriously thinking about not watching- I’ve always watched for the lat 30 years. This year is not at all enjoyable. The young people watching with me also can’t hear, so its not old age.
I saw the interview with the designer of the Olympics who said he interlaced the “envirnmentsl” soune into the commentary to “inhance the experience”. It RUINS the experience and I’m NOT enyoying it!!!
Did you guys know that our tax happy "government" taxes the crud out of each and every medal/winnings our American kids earn in the Olympics? Yes, successful efforts and hard work are taxed even for these. This ranks right up there with the vial "Death Tax".

Like the crappy NBC commentators said, the future of US swimming is awesome.
That was a crazy race and and our gal didn't even look tired. WOW!
NBC sucks.
I dislike the way NBC's lead guy made a big deal over Gabby being an African American after winning the Gold Thurs. night. They just had to get their BS PC dribble in. I guarantee most Americans hadn't even gone there in their mind. She's an American!!!!!
We will have NBC for the next two Winter and Summer Olympics. I hope Fox or someone else who knows how to broadcast sports has started their plans to wrestle the broadcasting rights from NBC starting with the 2022 Winter Olympics.
Too much tv time for rinky dink sports and not enough for track & field.
Eh, track & field isn't my cup of tea. Plus, they did just start.
