    Congrats to our soccer team.

Been a tough go for our T&F teams. Not winning medals like we usually do.

It's time for the Sports Gods to take Bolt down a notch or two. He's too arrogant and cocky. It's one thing to be confident and to be proud of accomplishments, but quite another to be a jackass. Bolt has crossed the line into jackassness.

Men's soccer gold medal final: Mexico 2 Brazil 1

About 10 years ago Mexican soccer was mediocre. That reality was driven home in 2002 when the US was tied by Mexico in a match in Mexico City. Actually, and it was later admitted by Mexican soccer officials, they did not deserve the draw. It was home-cooking refs that made the tie possible. Should have been 3-0 US that day, if not for the cheating refs.

Out of that disaster, Mexico vowed to right the ship, and invested heavily in their development programs, their youth programs. Today's gold medal win is a direct result of that "farm system."

Brazil is always good, but their philosophy of flash over substance continually denies them the big prizes. Spain is #1 because they are super talented, yep!, but their style is defense-possession comes first. Brazil emphasizes offense, Spain emphasizes defense. And...

    Defense wins championships.

As for Mexico, it is the beginning of their "golden age." They are now a major player on the world stage. This will, hopefully, elevate the US play. We now have a world power in our region to deal with. The US will have to get better just to keep Mexico from totally dominating CONCACAF.

This is depressing. It's the final night of Olympic sports and they are talking about WWII instead of showing sports. And when they do show sports, it's not even our own damn country. Ridiculous.

    That's not a bad thing.

It happened earlier today. I don't know what time they are showing it. I can't understand why they aren't showing some of this stuff live, seeing it is the weekend.

US women win in a huge rout in the 4 X 400. Not even close! You could put a bowl of soup on Allyson Felix's head while running....and she wouldn't spill a drop. So smooth.

Jamaica sets a WR in the men's 4 X 100. Congrats to the US for equalling the previous WR.

USA rocks in the medal count!

Congrats to the US men's hoops. There were 40 NBAers scattered throughout the rosters of many nations in this tourney.

And....once again, I stand by what I have always said, CP3 is the best PG in all of basketball, bar none. Wish he were still a Hornet, but doesn't change the fact he is simply the best.
