Can't help but feel for them. I am so glad we got out of that sinking ship...
You have to wonder who Idaho could schedule each year. Boise State would be the most likely candidate, but Boise ended the rivalry once they announced their move to the Mountain West. If Idaho stays in the FBS ranks, then I foresee a home schedule made up of the MAC teams and ULMs of the world.
New Mexico State has UTEP and New Mexico nearby, so they are in a slightly better scenario than Idaho.
Is there a rule you must play x home games?

Yeah, I don't see this ending well for them, unless they become VERY good and get a conference invite. Otherwise, they are in a bad location for being indy. We made it through sweat and tears for a while, but we are in a much better location for it.
Yes. They must play at least 5 home games a year including 4 games against FBS opponents.
I think they can get to 5 home games with the following:
vs. FCS Team (North Dakota, Idaho State, Cal Poly)
vs. 1-2 MWC teams (Colorado State, Wyoming, UNLV)
vs. 1-2 MAC teams (N. Illinois, W. Michigan, Bowling Green)
vs. Sun Belt Team (ULM, Western Kentucky)
vs. BYU and/or New Mexico State
It wouldn't be a good home slate to sell to your fanbase, but this along with money games against the Pac-12 and SEC could keep Idaho in FBS.

BYU will need games late in the season. There is hope there.
And obviously NMSU will be in the same boat.
So you try to play all your money games early, schedule at least one FCS per year, NMSU, BYU, and as many one-for-ones with the other non-AQs as you can get. Probably try to get a couple of 2-for-1 or 3-for-1 deals with Pac-12 teams. Maybe do a ULM @ Little Rock deal with Washington State.
BYU will never play in Moscow. That is game that could only work as an Idaho home game in Pullman.
Even with the two game series between BYU and Idaho in 2011 and 2012, both games are scheduled to be played at BYU. I think the only reason BYU played Idaho was because of the agreement between BYU and 6 WAC teams (including the postponed series with LA Tech).
Also, with BYU and Boise signing a home-and-home series through 2023, I don't see why BYU would play Idaho.
Stick a fork in Idaho..They're done.

Just curious, are there any rules that would prevent Idaho and another school playing a home and home series each year? Say like two games with BYU or NMSU each season?
