We should be knocking their door down for all sports membership. We could definitely use the tv contract they will get and could be with Houston and SMU. Talk about immediate prestige and recruiting boost for bball!
Who is currently in the BE and who will be left as the 13, for which they want to add one? I honestly don't know since I have always figured the BE would change several more times, so why bother to learn the membership?
I think it will be this, as of now: Louisville, Cincinatti, South Florida, Uconn, Boise, UCF, Temple, San Diego State, Houston, Memphis, SMU, Rutgers and Syracuse.
The next member will need to fall within the footprint... no farther west and south than San Diego, no farther west and north than Boise, no farther east and north than Connecticut, and no farther east and south than Tampa.

They ought to adopt the name Sasquatch Conference in homage to thier large footprint
If you take money out of the equation (and I know you can't) ... I'd say i much prefer being a member of the C-USA we are joining instead of that far-flung collection of schools.

Available Independents = Army, BYU, ND, NMSU, IdahoThere are some obvious candidates, but we're not talking about raiding anyone and there are some independents that might potentially want to be a member
Army already turned them down once. ND would be a stunner. The Aggies & Vandals too. I'd wager they're talking to BYU ... it might help convince Boise & SDSU to stick around once the BC$ spiggot shuts off.
I just may lose my bet with parialex after all ...
I bet it's byu too.
I bet it will be Tulane or Rice. When UL leaves, the second of these two will enter.
Tulane has expressed interest in the BE before, and they have an endowment of more than $1 billion. Lots of people all over the country find N.O attractive too.
I certainly don't have any inside information, though.
