Here's the irony:
The ULL fans that insisted on talking down to LA Tech --and the ones who treated LA Tech like chit during the last go round of college realignment-- will now have to seek (or beg for?) LA Tech's support if they ever expect to get an invite to CUSA.
Good luck with that.
I hope Tech fans don't ever forget how these ULL people acted when they thought LA Tech's future was on the ropes. Don't EVER forget!!!

Yeppers! Remember a lot of "let 'em rot" comments. They thought we'd get stuck in a disappearing WAC, ala Idaho & NMSU, and that they, the mighty Belch, would hold Tech's future in their hands. They expected us to beg for admission into the Belch. And of course, it would have taken the Belch about 2 seconds to extend an invitation to Tech, and been thrilled beyond description to elevate their pitiful league.
Of course, we need to separate the silly comments of fans from those of those schools' administrators, who, no doubt, exhibit more sense....and class. Fans will be fans.
I was referring to the Belch jumping at inviting Tech. The administrators are smart enough to know it would be in their own best interest. Despite the ranting of their fans.
No longer an issue....

So who are they bringing in again?"You have a pretty huge divide now between our conference and anything below us, and almost no gap between us and what they are calling the Big Five," Aresco said. "We say it's the Big Six. I'm not going to yield on that at all."
Baylor 59 SMU 24
Washington 21 SDSU 12
Texas St 30 Houston 13
Tenn-Martin 20 Memphis 17!
Notre Dame 50 Navy 10
Yep, not missing a beat.
Heck, even Boise State lost (although they're still really good - no shame losing to a top team on the road in a rebuilding year). At least UCF managed to beat one of the worst teams in FBS.
Of current members, everybody but Rutgers played FCS teams (which Pitt managed to lose).
Tough weekend for the "Big" East.
Brett McMurphy @McMurphyESPN
14-team Big East proposed divisions:
Red:
UL, USF, UConn, SDSU, SMU, Navy, Memphis
Blue:
Cincy, UCF, RU, BSU, UH, Temple & Team 14
So they pulled them out of a hat?
I think McMurphy was just trying to be funny.
Since the Big "East" is coast to coast, they should change their name to "Big Country." The Big Country Conference, spanning three time zones.
San Diego being placed in the "East" of anything is laughable. But, this is the new Big East......
That is dumb ... here let me help:
"Big" Division: SDSU, Boise, SMU, Houston, Memphis, Cincy, Louisville
"East" Division: UConn, Rutgers, USF, UCF, Temple, Navy, Team#14
Something like that would make a good deal more sense. (You could even swap the Ohio River pair with the Florida pair if it would make everybody happy.)
