Yes Stray, I was mad about not being ranked so I went with maddawg on the old Delphi site.

My first attempt was Hoggdawg (last name), but some arse had already laid claim to it.

    It was priceless.
That's funny. Vegasdawg tells the story of when his boss had the chance to play golf with Alabama's coach a while after he had been fired, and mentioned he had an art director that was an alumnus of Tech. Dubose wasn't very interested. Also, I think it was a different occasion, but not sure, when someone asked Dubose if he had any advice for future Alabama coaches. He said, "Yeah. Don't schedule Louisiana Tech."

Didn't Bick snap the ball on the TD pass to Losi?

No, Bick called a halfback draw up the gut.

Then Stallworth looked to to Rattay to get the real play.

If you only knew how close to reality that statement is. I'm not sure, but I don't think Rattay ever passed up any opportunity to change the plays Bicknell sent in.

You forget that I was still a student then.

That's true. Were you the Champ that tried to jump over the rail in the TAC at a basketball game and didn't make it and totally racked yourself?

Maybe. It was all kind of a blur. DallasDog might remember more clearly.

I played leapfrog with opposing mascots, including Bully the MissSt bulldog and Big Red the Razorback, across their sidelines. At that same game in LR the Hog fans ripped the fur hand from my suit. I went to the locker room to commandeer a pair of the players' gloves where I found QB Jason Martin wincing in agony, his knee the size of a small purple pumpkin, and receiving an emergency medical treatment I care not to remember. At the game in Starkpatch, the MSU fans rang their cowbells in my face and shouted "Go home Cajun redneck." The following week I was handcuffed and escorted to the locker room for ignoring repeated warnings to stay off the grass at Kyle Field in College Station. In a game at Indy, the Baylor (live) bear bit the $hi+ out of my hand when I tried to pet it. After a loss at home to USL, it was unseasonably cold, and I remember the odd sensation of feeling my own sweat freeze to my body when the suit came off. When basketball season came I used to go up in the stands and pass out M&Ms and skittles to the kids. StarWars had just been re-released in theaters, and I often battled other mascots (and refs) with a plastic light saber. At a WBB playoff game, I got smoked -- straight up schooled -- in a dance off with the Auburn tiger. I never clicked with the Cheerleaders, mostly snooty Greeks, and preferred to travel with the band kids. At a hotel in Bowling Green I had my first shot of tequila while the Hoop Troop chanted "drink Champ drink!"

I know I loved every minute of it, but only remember it like a dream.

Like I said, ask DallasDog. He was usually the sober one.

    Fraid not.

The guy before me was a championship-level cheerleader who stepped down as Champ when he was accepted as one of the first doctoral candidates in the Biomed engineering program. I think his name was Jason; he had been Champ for several years.

The guy before him was Larry (maybe?) and still lived in Ruston. He filled in for me at a week of basketball games when I had the flu.

The guy after me might also have been a Jason. For some reason, I'm thinking he was an AirForce vet from Hot Springs. He could make balloon animals.

There was supposed to have a been a Tech Spirit Groups reunion last football season. I was gonna go, but it got scrubbed at the last minute.
