That's a stupid rule. I think it gets repealed after one year. The reason we didn't notice it before was a player just puts his helmet back on and doesn't have to leave the game. There seems to be a lot more face mask penalties this year. They think if they can rip Dixon's helmet off then he will have to stop. A helmet doesn't just pop off unless it has some help.
I am pretty sure you are wrong. I played football for 10 years and never once remember my helmet coming off during a game or a practice unless I took it off. If helmets have always come off at the rate we saw last night there would be a lot more reports over the years of death or severe injury from brain trauma.Originally Posted by Allgood

Dixon's helmet has been ripped off only 3 times out of the 8 I have counted him losing it. King's has not been ripped off. The helmets are too big for them, specifically King's.
OH, so you are one of those touchy-feely, good guy, best friends with the players type of coach huh? They would be running 10 gassers or stadium steps, maybe both, for every time it came off, if it were me....
I think players arrange it so they can get a play off.
I noticed that they reset the play clock when a guy had to leave bc of losing a helmet. Could that not be used as an advantage?
