I disagree with your Bree's comment. It is going to be a long year, and it's obvious that the Spags defense is going to take time for our guys to truly learn.

The bright side is that we might get a high draft pick out of this, and the team (and head coach) will be playing with a big shoulder chip. Hopefully they will shove it up Goodell's arrogant ass.

I follow "TheFakeESPN" on Twitter, and they tweeted this just before the game:
"Replacement ref for Saints game suspended after posting on Facebook he is a Saints fan. Nice try, Sean Payton. Good effort."

Sean Peyton should be glad he is suspend this year or else he would be getting calls for firing...

I doubt even he could coach 9 wins from this years team, unless he can make Brees not throw bonehead forced balls and play a defense that can remotely stop a mobile QB.

Nope. With Peyton, we're 2-0 right now. Kromer (however you spell it) looks lost. Carmichael is great, but Peyton is truly one of the greatest offensive minds in the game. It's the NFL. Everybody has athletes (ask Nick Saban and the Old Ball Coach). You have to out-coach your opponent every week. That paired with the fact that we don't have the athletes to run Spags D yet and you get what we've gotten. And I don't see the ship being righted this year.

They would be 2-0 with Peyton, probably both by double digits...

There was a reason he was HC and I never bought into the hype they would be just fines without him -

I still say this team is looking at 8 wins or possibly less

Lots of folks are saying that. But, frankly, I don't buy it.

A good coach, which Sean Payton most certainly is!, makes a difference over a long term. Not necessarily game to game. The 0-2 start falls squarely on the players and coaches. The defense is terrible. Which, is the biggest disappointment thus far. I was hoping to see something better on the D side.

The offense is sputtering. But, Brees has his SB ring and his $100 million contract, so why should he care? He's set for life. (er, provided he doesn't pull a Vince Young act, what a maroon! ). Also, the rest of the O looks bored. There is no fire. Both Graham and Moore dropped TD passes vs. Carolina. Obvious lack of focus.

The Niners are playing with passion. Haubaugh is a driving force, true, but the players, other coaches, and their fanbase are HUNGRY for a title, and it shows. At any level, from Pop Warner to the NFL, you have to WANT it, if you expect to win.

Apparently you do buy it. I've noticed the same coaching deficiencies that you have...with Peyton, we're better situationally. He also gets more out of his players. Both of these games were within reach late in the game. I'm confident that if Peyton were around, we'd be 2-0 and staring 3-0 right in the face.

As is, we'll be lucky to be a .500 team come January.

    Re: Saints...

Sean Payton is very detail oriented, and we are missing that badly right now. The 12 men on the field penalty against us during the Redskins game stands out in my mind. At that point Payton would have jumped all over McMahon (special teams coach), but Kromer didn't. I think that's because Payton sees McMahon as an assistant coach while Kromer sees him as a peer.

Payton also has a presence on the sideline that we have not been able to replace. It was obvious last year when he broke his leg and was in the press box for a few games. Remember that he returned to the sideline two weeks early for the Falcons game, because he knew he needed to be there. Whether it's getting on other coaches, grabbing a player by the facemask, or cracking a joke to ease the tension, Payton has an attitude that our guys miss.

We also miss his game planning. Brees is a great QB, but he is only about 6' 0" or 6'1". Payton is good at hitting the other teams weaknesses while giving Brees lanes to throw through. Carmichael is good at hitting the other teams weaknesses.

I just hope we get a good draft pick out of the deal.

Payton is missed, no doubt, the offense is a step behind, although they are still very good......... but what is missing the most >>>>> DEFENSE.

When a team gives up 75 points in two games, I don't care if Vince Lombardi was coaching them, they would be 0-2.

Better defense and the Saints would be 2-0. They can't tackle, don't put any pressure on the QB and the secondary couldn't cover a high school team.

All that said, I see them still making the playoffs. Gotta keep the faith. WHO DAT!!!

I agree. Two games and we're already talking about a high draft pick next year?? smh. We have a hall of fame QB and a core of young guys that were superbowl champs 3 short years ago. It's definitely not too late to turn things around. Started 0-1 last year yet finished 13-3, despite poor defensive play. Saints were 5-3 before reeling off 8 straight wins to close the season (if my memory is correct) so its not like they aren't capable of getting hot. That said, the defense better make huge strides and quickly.

I see an ass whippin in the dome this Sunday, and then suddenly everyone will be talking about a potential upset at Lambeau.

    Re: Saints...

Everyone keeps talking about high draft picks. Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't part of our punishment the revocation of 1st round picks for the next 2 years?

EDIT: Nevermind. I looked back and see that it was 2nd round pick for '12-'13
