Defense looks slow for sure. What gets me, though, is the lack of aggressive play on that side of the ball. Chad had some nice hits, but thats all i saw

Dang! I saw IK getting after it! He played a solid game. Liggins was very good last night as well. I thought Crowe looked better in pass coverage than he has before. That PI on him was complete garbage.Originally Posted by latechbulldawgfanatic

As would be expected, we lead most of the offensive categories. But surprisingly, we are at or near the top in several individual defensive categories as well.
I should clarify. I meant they don't seem to just put a good lick on anyone. Not many solid hits. Not a lot of flying to the ball. Not a lot of getting pumped up, jumping up after a big tackle, swagger, etc. But then again, they are on the field more than the average defense is.
Also J Johnson played a very good game. The problem is that we aren't blowing up enough plays with our lb's. Man, I miss AC. He was a baller.
We lost 2 really good LBs that have started for the last 3 years. Those 2 guys were always all over the field on every play.
We never adjusted and assigned a "spy" on the QB. He was free to run whenever he wanted and picked up several first downs that way.

I really don't know why he hasn't been given a chance, but I've heard that he has not impressed the coaches at all. Just rumor, but that's the reason I hear.
Not true. He's going to be a good player for us in the future.
When is the future?
Mithcham and Hester are getting increasingly more reps to assist Solly and Rufus. They are fast and athletic and will help us a ton. I think Beau's the next guy up and waiting his turn but probably a year away (he is a Fr ).
Every player we sign was a STAR in high school. Some players never overcome that.

Our defense along with many other problems is undisciplined and that is a coaching issue.
It's sad when "F*** you, WAC ref!" is a traditional crowd cheer.
Schrang was essentially lined up as a weak side LB on some plays, giving a 4-3 look. He's got enough size to do it.
