    Tennessee: Pregame prayer isn’t unconstitutional

I would hope our Administration would also hold firm and defend our pregame prayer. Freedom from Religion Foundation? Geez.

Allowing prayer isn't unconstitutional, but the school leading prayer only to the Christian god would be unethical considering there may be players/fans/administrators who have different beliefs.

Re: Tennessee: Pregame prayer isn’t unconstitutional

I'm all for it. Our founders wrote the Constituiton with God mentioned many times and it was the basis for forming our nation. It offends me as a Christian not to say an Invocation before a game. PERIOD ! I suggest to all the atheist that attend - use earplugs!

I go to Texas Motor Speedway twice a year now for 4 years with over 140,000 folks in attendance where people show respect to our flag, our military, and bow their heads for the prayer. I'm a Christian, for far to long I've been silent and pushed around for my belief. No more. I'm proud of the University of Tennessee and also those high school students that won't back in Texas for standing their ground in the Kountze Independent School District...Kountze, a town of 2,100. What a story this getting to be, they've had it as well...http://www.theblaze.com/stories/war-...-backing-down/

Except the Constitution doesn't say the word "God" a single time.

There are several references to God in the Declaration of Independence. It is silly to argue that our forefathers did not look to God for guidance and protection for our nation.

Our forefathers were mostly atheists and deists, not Christian. C'mon man read a book.

I don't care either way (I'm not Christian), but it doesn't bother me when there is a prayer. I don't see why people get offended.

Jefferson was not a Christian. Have you read about the Jeffersonian Bible?

Only because it was a persuasive way to rebut the concept of the divinity of the kings, which was a source of the colonists loyalty to the crown. Context is everything.

One of the books Jefferson wrote about Jesus to give to the native Americans?
