Tell me about Ruston/LaTech.

I take it these are all within close proximity to campus? Any of these the "hang out" for the college students? Dawg House looks like it is when viewing it on google earth. I'm trying to give my daughter a feel for what being a student there will be like.

What ITdrummer said. Lunch under an umbrella at Sundown is always good on a nice spring day. Supper at Dawg House or Ponchatoulas. El Toro is also a student hangout if you want Mexican.

Besides being a great hangout for students, in my opinion the Dawg House has BY FAR the best gourmet burgers in North Louisiana. I'm not sure you'll get a better burger anywhere. I highly recommend the Fajita Burger on the Jalapeno-cheddar Bun. And the Froyos Patty Melt, and the Steak House Burger...oh my. Now I'm hawngry.

Well it's official, I've sent the housing application/deposit and there is a South Louisiana Bulldog on the way! I wonder if the mods will change my username to just TechDad now? Anyway, my daughter will be staying in an honors apartment come Fall quarter. Thanks for everyone's help in this thread. I will definitely reference the restaurant suggestions again in July when I go up there for orientation.
