Jon Wilner of the San Jose Mercury News is by far worse than Guilbeau...his ballot has almost half of the teams in extreme or near-extreme rankings.

And of course he has Tech unranked. Give him some anti-love too.

    Re: #23 in AP Poll

In '99 we got ranked, at 8-2, the week of our last regular season game at USC. We lost that game 45-19....

Now, here we are again, in the week of another quality opponent. Not expecting a repeat of the '99 disappointment. But, we started that season losing to Florida State and aTm (37-17) before reeling off 8 straight, including the win over eventual SEC Champion Bama.

This ranking is a tribute to Coach Dykes, the staff, and the players, and stands on its own merits. Thinking of a '99 comparison is left to we fans who were fans then, as we are now. The 2012 Dawgs don't owe the '99 team a thing, nor should they be judged by that team. The current team can write its own history.

    Congrats Dawgs!

    .....making we fans proud!

You only can give negative credit to one voter a week I think. Wilner's ballot is awful, but I decided that Glenn's should be called out since he is one of two Louisiana voters.

And Jon Wilner is the lone AP voter who covers a WAC school.

Yikes. That's a negative then. The one representative that covers the WAC isn't even tossing us a vote. Maybe he'll finally give us one the last week of the year when we rip apart SJSU.

The Idaho Statesman voter has us at 20, he's a semi-WAC voter, I guess.

I posted the Gilbeau stuff on facebook to try and garner some more bad votes.

Gilbeau is now in the lead as the worst voter.

The Idaho Statesman voter Chadd Cripe just covers Boise State.

Brian Murphy is the Idaho Statesman writer who covers the Vandals.

Does anyone know if this is the first Top 25 matchup in Independence Stadium history? or at least in a very long time. I seriously doubt that the Indy Bowl game gets a Top 25 v Top 25 matchup.

LaTech is ranked #24 in the first Harris Poll of the season!

Remember the Harris Poll and Coach's Poll are each 1/3 of the BCS formula.

Only one Independence Bowl featured two teams ranked in the AP Top 25:
    1993, #21 Indiana vs. #22 Virginia Tech.

As far as in the stadium's history, I don't know.

Two top 25 teams at Independence? I cannot wait!!!

edit - also, voted "bad" for Guilbeau. I stopped reading that guy's garbage years ago. He reminds me of Jeff Duncan in NOLA.
